I am driving with CRST right now. I am a rookie, just a few months in. The pay is low, but our truck is getting good miles, because we have a good FM and we have proven we will work. A big part of CRST's freight is air freight loads that is time sensitive. If you show you can run those on time, they will keep you running. If you last 6 months, the pay does go up. The reason I went with them is they are the only big carrier who has a school, that will hire from my area. They are very serious right now about improving their safety score, and are hammering us daily about safety issues. They are also doing things to try and improve driver retention. Hopefully that will translate into better pay and a more realistic home time policy. The biggest reason drivers leave is, they dont go home enough. Right now, I am home after 9 weeks out. I can do that, my kids are grown and out on their own, but not everyone can.
Yeah, teaming is tough and honestly, after I get done with my contract, I plan on going solo. But 8 months is not that long. Right now, I have 5 months and 6 days left. (Yeah I am counting them
but, still......) To me, I think ending up with the experience and the school paid for is worth it.

I think they have gold trucks.
..that's about the most I've thought about them. -
Stayed a weekend at that FlyingJ on I20 south of Dallas. Parked next to a CRST truck that was waiting to load. Team truck. Two guys. Noticed that there were 15 teams sitting and waiting for a load. Delivered my load at the Walmart 9 miles down the road and came back to the J. The CRST trucks were still there. Got a load out of Houston. Waiting until the sin set and I left and rode down interstate 45 southbound.
question: If they are making you run team, why are there 15 teams sitting for 3 days? -
And why are they never running at night?
I was the night driver running team for the last two years. I'd rarely see a CRST truck at night. They were out there but not nearly as many as companies like US Xpress and Covenant. A team truck that doesn't move at night doesn't make any money.
