They get hit by a truck and survive , they'd would care real quick..People these days are really getting on my nerves with their rude driving. Not saying all truckers are saints behind the wheel of their truck,,far from the truth,,just stating a fact on the out of control human who thinks its ok to do those things to a truck, or worse does it on purpose , playing chicken with a rig.

You guys don't get it! the cops, insurance companies, the attorneys, the city, the state make a lot of money in accidents, tickets, lawsuits etc... it benefit's them to have young drivers getting tickets, being sued, ther auto insurance skyrocketing! It benefits them having young people cheating drivers license test online and that's how all these officials and ins. industries make a lot of money! It's not about safety! it's like the oil companies selling an air engine! they are not going to let their money go in the way of safety!

Great, teach the "regular" motoring public about the dangers of being stupid around a truck. Perhaps they are just mimicking what they see "truck" drivers doing every day to not only them but to each other....

    Tailgating
    Speeding
stopping short in front of another truck
acting like what they are doing, or driving is any more important than the next person.

before we can ever hope to see any change in the general population of motorists we need to change our own behaviors.

It's a great idea, but just not practical or realistic. Let's face it - the situation is never going to improve. We have more cars and trucks on the road, more distractions like cell phones, GPS, radios, etc, more and more impatient drivers, and we can't even police our own in the trucking world. Most of the tailgating truckers I encounter could give a rat's behind about the situation or what could happen. If I slow down, they do, too. It's almost like they are petrified to get in the left lane and pass - the right lane for trucks laws have a lot to do with their mentality, but it just makes the right lane more dangerous with 5 or 6 trucks in a line with less than a truck length between each of them at speed.

All you can do these days is make sure that your following distance is adequate in light of the vehicle behind you, or if it is too bad, slow down and/or get off the road and let the tailgater go. I know it's a pain, but it's the only way to be safe and get home unscathed these days. I would much rather be inconvenienced a little than not make it home at all.

Hate to say it but some of the worst offenders I see tailgaiting are truck drivers riding on 4 wheelers who won't get out of their way. Hard to tell them they should alow extra distance when passing and pulling in front of a truck, when some drivers are riding two feet off their bumpers. That said I do agree more education regarding specoific characteristics of trucks, motorcycles, trailers, stopping and following distances should be emphasied during training.

Try this every morning as you get behind the wheel. "Lord please protect me from stupid people." Because he's the only one that might help you. I can't even drive my car in our little country town without some hick acting like a dumbas. Ridiculous.

I think law enforcement doing REAL active aggressive driver enforcement with steep fines, points and a class would do wonders rather than a traffic class to get your license. Most ppl can't afford steep fines these days so they would think twice in the future.

I get a kick out of the 4 wheelers that tailgate you, then when you start slowing down they just sit there no matter how slow you go. Makes you question if they passed you without you noticing, then you start speeding up and WHAM they're still kissing your ###.

Better yet, have law enforcement drive an unmarked truck and have them personally witness the crap we have to deal with. The $$$ they would make on class c vehicle tickets would dwarf our fines within 15 minutes.
