I talked with a guy there about a year ago, he said they had very little hotshot freight back then. But if I had my own found freight I could lease to them.
For 13% I decided I'd keep on running my own authority cause there charging for everything anyway. I did consider leasing my 2nd truck with them cause I didn't want another driver ruin my csa and insurance. and decided against that also.
Anyone leased to Admiral Merchants?

Well, for stuff you find on your own... they take 17%. For that 17, you appear to get some paperwork handling, use their authority and you get their cargo and liability insurance. I just don't know if that's a good or bad deal.
I know that when I wrote my financial plan for hotshotting, I ended up having more than 17% of my gross budgeted to insurance - but that's my WAG, not solid fact. Over the course of a year, what percentage of your gross does the liability and cargo insurance take?
I am unsure of what other benefits they offer in return for that.nofilter Thanks this. -
my insurance was less than 5,000 this year if IRC it's about .08 a mile of my operating expense. A little less than more than 4% of gross and add 5% for factoring and I'm still at 9.5% that's less than the 17% admirals charged and there still a couple things you have to pay for after the 17% they charge.
I looked at in mainly to dsitance myself from a second driver and the problems they could possibly bring.nofilter Thanks this. -
I just started with Admiral three weeks ago and I live in Maine. Admiral has a broker in WV who regularly lists mulch from Poland and Medway on a daily basis. I'm sure the rates are just like everybody else's. Other than that, they have nothing in New England, so to speak. I was on my own for eight years and it was common for me to bounce down into NH, MA to load out, so I can't hold the lack of freight against Admiral. SO far, I'm happy with their system, and their rates.

Yeah, the liability and possible stains on your insurance and safety records could be worth a a few cents a mile, I see why you'd do it.
However, it's not going to be measured solely in dollars. If they can get you better rates and keep you busy (if you can't on your own) it can be worth it.
I'm not saying it is, I'm just a little unsure of the real values here.nofilter Thanks this. -
I called Ad. Merch. a couple of times and they said they weren't taking on any new H.S. not enough freight. I don't know if things have changed since then but from what the industry looks like out there, I don't see much of a change in the past few years so I'm thinking A.M. is still not taking H.S.
