    Huh. Well, I've thought it would be a great niche to run to Alaska. I have a friend who retired from driving for Walmart a few months ago, and he did the Alaska run for Walmart. And he loved it. I just dunno if you can find things that pay enough. I know that it's kind of one-way... More going than coming back.

    BTW, if you crossed OR, you probably ran Cabbage Hill... Kinda famous around there.

    If they pull you over as you leave the toll booth why would they need the toll ticket ? The time they stopped you would be within a minute or two .

    I saw them doing the stopping just after the toll booth again this last trip.

    So who do you talk to at any of these trailer mfgrs or car distributors to discuss hotshot or expedited hauling?

    First of all RV hauling is not hotshot or expedite . The larger RV transport companies pretty well have the RV transport contracted . You'd need to check with those carriers . Some O/O's do well with auto hauling but it's a tough business with a lot of low rates . You could try checking with auction lots and insurance companies .

    Thanks, I appreciate you taking the time to reply. My friend and I are in the process of starting up a 2 truck expeditor/hot shot company in Southern California. We are using Freightliner-Sport Chassis and a 40' enclosed goose and a 40' flatbed goose. We are just at the dilemma of finding the right connections to contract with or lease onto.

    Can you offer any advice? Information? We understand all the licensing, insurance, MC, DOT, stuff but the loads...how do we find consistent loads. average per mile rates etc. We will be staying west coast and as far east as maybe New Mexico.

    You might check with the household van lines . This is their busiest season and they need extra trucks . Few people realize when they move their household goods go to a warehouse and are crated then crates are consolidated to make loads . You could haul crates in the enclosed trailer and vehicles on the gooseneck .

    off duty is just that. there are NO requirements that read that you have to sleep in a motel. nor do you need to show any motel receipt. sleep on the ground if you want it is not illegal. the issue comes if you mark sleeper berth and don't have one. other than there is no "sleep " requirement. simply being off duty for 10. that is all.

    Actually, the 7.3 was rated for 250K miles in a light duty truck. The previous, non-turbo version was flat worn OUT at 300K miles, often burning signficant amounts of oil by then, with heavy blowby.
