Heres the deal. I work for a LTL company that has the 10k pound to 26k pound trucks. We need a medical card to drive it and have trips that run about 200 miles all in state. This state does not have a lot of weigh stations. Only one is on the way to one of our customers. Now I do have my medical card and was cut back to 1 day a week working because I was told business is slow. HOwever the driver manager in this city has his uncle working with us. His uncle does not have a medical card. I was informed last friday ( by a receiver at a customer's repair facility that the uncle drove the truck on thursda to deliver to them. Now I understand it is necessary to have a medical card to drive this truck. however he can not pass the physical without getting on blood pressure medicine and glasses. he has neither. I did discuss this with the manager however he said it was ok because he is willing to take that risk and it was ok because he was not paid for driving there Thursday. Now I had to stop by the warehouse this evening to make some copies of a form i need to send out. The uncle was sleeping there, so i am guessing he worked today and will work tomorrow. I plan on being there tomorrow and take pictures if 1. he is working and 2. driving the truck. these i will send to the president of the company and go around the district manager, safety oh and the district manager also. The Uncle has had 2 months to get his card ( since he started working there) I have been working there since september and really wondering if I am being starved out because i spoke up. which is fine with me because I plan on getting my class A as soon as i can come up with enough for the down payment on the student loan. tomorrow i file for partial unemployment to make the ends meet but I have told the manager ( new to the job) that it was a hefty fine if his uncle gets caught and frankly I am tired of the bs and giving him the information when he don't care because he is the manager and knows better. then everyone else. now here is the question: what kind of fines are there and how do i report it. I looked online and there is no DOT number listed here for reporting violations, so what department or do i call the state police non emergency number and let them know. MY thing is that it is a safety issue. this guy has very high blood pressure, like the bottom number is 140. he is a walking stroke waiting to happen and does not want to spend the 100 bucks to get a doctors appointment. SO what should I do?

do me a favor don't work where I work I wouldn't want you to rat me out for something silly
-
Is he on blood pressure medicine?
-
not on meds if he was it wouldnt be a problem
-
Silly, ok I guess having a coworker with inches from a stroke is silly. having a manager allowing this person to drive a truck without a needed medical card is silly, guess you would want to be next to him on the highway when he strokes out. better you then me ( the bottom number in blood pressure is the heart at rest so it is twice the normal level. blood pressure of 140/100 is stage 2 high blood pressure
and it is suggested to get one meds and have lifestyle changes. Not everyone with high blood pressure has a Heart attack or stroke however it makes the person at higher risk for either o of them. the big question is wouldyou like to be driving your car next to this truck with this driver? -
Silly???? then let your wife/kid stay in front of his truck before the stroke.... NOTHING SILLY ABOUT THAT !!!

As anyone with a CDL will attest the DOT has sent out letters advising CDL holders both class A & B that you have until the end of this year to "Self Certify" with their respective state licensing agencies.
What is "Self Citifying"? In a nut shell you have let them (your state) know basically what type of driving you do on daily basis.
Ok I'm an OTR driver, so I certified as an "Interstate driver". Therefore I'm required to produce a DOT Health Card and every time that DOT Health Card I produced that day expires I must return with a new DOT Health Card and recertify.
Ok now what you have described is what as know as a "Intrastate driver" which means you never leave to state in which you are licensed, therefore you are not required to carry a DOT Health Card with a few exceptions. If you have a Haz-Mat endorsement you have to have a DOT Health Card or if you live in a different state than one you work in. Example: I live in Rhode Island and I work for Mass. Hwy Dept. well I'm never driving out of Mass with a truck but still live in a different state.
What I was really shocked to read was this is regardless of weather or not you had a class A or B. I even asked at the DMV. -
I live in PA, and I just went to renew my A license and the clerk was quick to point that they would suspend my license in 30 days if I didn't present them with my new physical.

Stsybusy sounds pretty stupid and you should just move on. They are bs'ing you

Oklahoma hasnt notified CDL holders yet about self certify, all states are on different timelines.
