I didn't even think about them lying about it, curse of the honest I guess. I'll make sure to get documents before I start pointing fingers.

P4P- I had a coolant hose burst and drained all my coolant. The road side guy filled it and left me 2 gallons of coolant for the "Air bubbles" he told me to pull over every 100 miles and top it off. It took the whole 2 gallons. Also if you had a head gasket issue wouldnt there be coolant in the oil? I know that was how I noticed an issue in my Blazer, but those "Techs" in the inspection bay probably never look at the oil, and if you had it changed it would have been clear when the mechanics in the shop got to it.

Wow let them know you are considering another job and they take care of you. My student was suposed to upgrade last week, but he hasn't gotten all his hours (his choice to only run 4-6hrs a day) and they gave me a weeks worth of presets and told me there were enough hours there to get him upgraded, the problem, there was only enough hours for Him to drive and get upgraded. I drove my full 10 yesterday and got a call today. "What are you doing man, now he's going to be short 10 hours?!?" Me- "Your telling me you want me to take a 4cpm paycut and be a passenger in my truck for a week?" "Well it's your fault he doesn't have all his hours." Me- "If thats how you feel when we get to Central on friday I'll drop the keys off at the shop, I have another job and can start on Monday." Now we are preset for 4500 miles this week m-f wow 1200 turned to 4500. Why didn't they just do that in the first place?

PSU why would he only want to drive 4-6 a day. Wow I came out here to work not to sit and watch the country go by. Sorry I just don't understand why someone would want to short change themselves like that. I have a goal of getting my hours in and then have to wait for my 28 days to go by. again not to criticize but sone time I don't understand people and I think you trainers have a hard job to get your miles and train someone to get their miles too.

If the head gasket blew there was not much you could have done to prevent it unless you where really loading the bogging it up the hill but even then it would have been overheating and letting you know. that is why I wish these had cylinder head temp gauge then if you did have an air bubble in the coolant that was trapped in the head it would have given you an indication things where going wrong. Also you can have a head gasket that was about to go and not get water in the oil but it usually causes the engine to overheat when climbing.

I figured I give you a heads up on that. People do get funny and do all kinds of stuff when the finger pointing starts. Next thing you know they did not even work on anything around the engine and it goes to the old he said she said.

I had a friend back in Germany that busted the VW place after they charged her for coolant on her old beetle. She asked the guy to show her where to put the antifreeze in the air cooled motor.

Just dropped my truck off at dd, now I'm waiting 90 minutes for the shuttle (and starving). Turns out my truck is still about 15 days shy of running out of warrantee, and this should be covered. That includes the $700 tow bill. I gave them my phone number so they can talk to be directly if there will be any charge (when is there not?) but it looks like we might be ok. Still gonna get my paperwork on that job so I have something to back me up if this goes to (delete).

Funny story with the coolant on an aircooled. Makes me think of blinker fluid. I bet they thought she would have no idea since she's a woman.

Well dd has it now and we'll see where that goes. I've never seen CHT on a water cooled motor, and whether or not it would help could come down to exactly where the sensor is located. If the sensor is in a place getting cooled everything might look fine. Dd said that it will be covered under warrantee unless the motor has been over 2300 rpms. Unfortunately I have no way of knowing, since I'm not the original driver, but whatever the case I'll know soon. I should have a loaner in the morning and be back in business.

Interesting side note: the shop has no record of working on the cooling system, replacing the axle seals, replacing the tail light, or fixing the fuel gauge. I really don't know how to put the incompetence in to words.

Well I have put then in a few cars i had because it gives you a better idea of what is really going on if you loos water for some reason you will see the CHT gauge rise..

Yeah I don't get it either. I have had a few like that, and I get bugged by training to get them their hours. I can't make them drive, if they are "tired" it's unsafe. Honestly by day 28 I am ready to get you off my truck, and any additional days will probably not be plesent.

Got back to my truck a little before noon today and they sent me my get going load-- picking up in the yard in Fontana and delivering in a place somewhere near salt lake-- 677 miles-- to be delivered at 0230...? It was already noon and I was expected to get 677 miles in 14 hours? Was going to need a 10 for sure to run that. Let my DM k ow and gave him an ETA of 1200, guess they only unload mornings cuz I got sent an appointment for 0400 Wednesday morning. Looks like ill be rolling into WVC tomorrow and spending the night unless we can get a drop on this deal.

moose, when my trainer would put me behind the wheel, I'd drive until they either told me to stop, I ran out of hours, or we got to our stop. I think I even ran a 10h55m shift early on in there before I got into the habit of 9-10 hour days.
