Just a question, are you guys not able to book a profitable load out of Columbus OH market, always??. This is my 5th day and have not been able to book a profitable load out of here. I have to run empty out of here to north east. A profitable load means this, that I came here for appox $1/mile and to make any kind of profit I need at least $3/mile for bring the average over $2/mile on a 300---400 miles run. Which brings overall millage average to close $1.95/mile (which is a profitable number)

Columbus has always been good to me. It seems you're always having a hard time getting good rates out of good freight areas. Maybe it's time for you to sell the truck and find another line of work?
-
Root of the problem .... Running in for $1 mile ... I would start by checking the nut behind the steering wheel, if you can tighten that up you may see a rise in profits.
-
Last night I saw an expedite pop out of there about 80 miles away for a low rate $2 a mile on 600 loaded.. ..I know for a fact it can/will pay much more than that. Do you search for freight all hours of the night and day or do you call it quits around 5pm? You might not see anything at all working odd hours like that, especially these days, but if you're not willing to, you sometimes miss the boat when it appears.

2, Some one mentioned tightening the nut before trying again (nice and funny, thanks). I was searching for loads from since the previous week and that was the best I could come up with. I have done tons of loads for Freight Quote and I booked in the anticipation of comments in the extra charge request for fuel surcharge $200. Approx 500 miles for $600 40k load w Ben Franklin Toll, PA Turnpike Toll, Ohio Turnpike Toll. It was at night when I booked it (I know that the rate on this lane from my bottom line calculations and confirming with my other counter parts is $850. Like I said I did try to call but same trashy voice answers, this is after hour's service some one will get back to you tomorrow. Any way to get out of NJ bad market it was a reasonable attempt for driving 500 miles to a better market. It ended up being 2 picks at the same place and 3 hours loading and 4.5 hours unloading (the load was accepted at 7:15AM by Shone but they had to wait for a goofy guy to get there. So it got done at 12:05PM. I always take picture of the load to avoid any confusion. The load was 22pallets all shrink wrapped and even on top clear proof in the pics. He wrote 2 cases were short. (Detention was not honored either)
Changing the job, seriously? Back to computers or security analyst or State Inspections or flipping houses? Would it work??? For sure.
I had a house fully renovated during the hottest real-state market back in 2005-and 2006. It sat on market for 6 months but no one ever came to look at it. Except the my broker who was one of the best in the that area (I had my license with him at the time, I had known him from young age) came in early in the AM at 7:00 with whole bunch of Riff Raffs and told me that this is the way all real-state sales work. The market at that time was so hot that if a house came up on the market this week, the next week it went under contract. I had prepared the house with few of the best expert's directions in that area who I had worked with and helped out with technical work, in their renovations as well. The house market on that street for that week was $250k I had listed for $225k with $10k in bonus on top of commission (commission= $12k) but no sell at all. I will explain why later what I think.Last edited: May 15, 2013

Some one tried to relate this kind of terror activity to a legit organization earlier, but seriously the kind of activity and incidents and ganging up on a regular working class low lifer, could only be done by a terrorist gang not this country's civilized group. I am talking about going after our children in the primary school.

Here is a little more detail on how the terror group is working.
Some one tried to relate this kind of terror activity to a legit organization earlier, but seriously the kind of activity and incidents and ganging up on a regular working class low lifer, could only be done by a terrorist gang not this country's civilized group. I am talking about going after our children in the primary schools and trying to set them up. My kid was only 11 at the time when we received a letter in the mail saying the principal of your school has changed (his name was Mr. Guy) and then we started to see him around children in the school when we dropped off the kids or picked them up. At the same time a girl started to show up in the school during the recess time out side where the kids would be playing (some thing Smith). Then she became, friends with my child, and some how took my child's diary (which was told by the teacher at around the same time and write every thing in it what you do at home). Few days later we were called in urgent in school at the principal's office. Here the same, Mr. Guy (who did not even remotely look like a guy at all) shows me the diary and inside the diary he shows me knife being thrown with ninja action (totally different hand writing and ink) says this is our policy to write up your child and make a note of it (I was not feeling well and accepted it and they told us to shut the F up so we left) They also threaten my child and blamed for other things which my kid did not understand. Later on, that file was stolen out of our home filling cabinet. We received a letter saying Mr. Guy has been replaced shortly later on. This kind of activity is not even remotely expected of possible from a legit organization especially in this beautiful country of USA where you will find all kind of nations working together with law and order. -
Ummm do you wear a tin foil hat?

Here are a few high lights of the day.
Access America says they are loosing money at $1300 to Edison or some area they were posting loads to, from Columbus OH it is Beer load 45K.
If some one (broker)is loosing money on beer load at about $2.50/mile out of OH going northeast on OH turnpike, PA turnpike and the numerous tolls in NJ, then who is making money. Consumer is paying over $4.25/mile on this kind of run read the market why the prices are so high.
First of all when I call they always put me on hold for 5-10min and then say really low rate.
I called Schneider on a load they were posting urgently, I get the guy on the line(this was supposed to be the cell phone. Then the same game of transferring between extensions fro 10-15min. Then the answer "it has been covered" (how do all loads get covered as soon they are posted? No one ever negotiate any thing at all??? Here is the load to RI from OH.
Asked Frt Qt on this load the have been posting for 4 days for $1325 and no one has booked it yet. He replied an hour later we are paying $1200 on this 44k load to Philadelphia from Jeffersonville OH. For 511 loaded miles and 79 dead head. See attached there listing for the load.
Just talked to an other trucker he unloaded here nearby from NY for $1200 for 600 miles run and took him 25 min from the time opening his laptop and booking a load for $2700 Beer load back to Long Island NY. He always works off of the load board and does only spend 1/2 hour to book a load and does not have to put up with the ridiculous numbers. Actual broker said $2450 he said 2800 and ended up booking for $2700. Same goes to another few I know they all book a load out of here, in minutes to Northeast at the approx same rate of $2500 to $3000 1p 1d standard loads.Attached Files:
