I don't know about alternative fuels, but I see a lot old and even classic trucks running in and out CA all the time.

What are gonna do, flip on the propane switch if they want to do a snap idle test on ya?

So many trucks in Ca. and enforcement is spotty.
Container Hauler Thanks this. -

I live in the God forsaken state, and can say that yeah I'm surprised to see some of the out AND instate rigs on the roads. Old, beat up tractors with mismatched panels blowing coal LOL, but no one stops them. We all know it's a crock of **** to begin with, but thankfully it really isn't strongly enforced. I know all the big fleets in state are either buying newer (2008 and above) or paying the rediculous $15-20k for a DPF retrofit. The worst part about this whole deal is that the CARB study was done by some lying ####### who bought his PHONY college degree on line from a guy who fled the country. YET Commufornia still lets his bullcrap word stand. It's all a revenue stream, and I personally hope the trucking industry cripples this #### stupid state, but that'll never happen, too many big compnaies with new fleets will always make a buck out here while the O/O is forced outta business. I currently run a 1996 international 9600 because it's good til 2016 and affordable. It blows NO smoke, runs good, and the N14 only leaks a gallon every 5000 miles LOL. But if it lasts til then (970k with no proof of inframe) I will have to buy a 2008 or newer tractor to stay alive. I hate this #### state!

I even once thought about starting a transfer yard, basically you drop your non-compliant tractor load in AZ and I get a compliant tractor to take it to it's destination in Ca, but between the EPA's lack of enforcement (not complaining there- life as a trucker is hard enough) and the Swifts, Schiender, and JB Hunts of the industry running en mass, it ain't even worth it to try.

Thanks that re enforcing what I have heard from others, so if I do blow smoke and until they enforce fine etc, I'll plan to run CA when I have to

It's easier to ask for forgiveness rather than permission.
Funny think up here in ND people are pulling off the EGR DEF's, MPG poor reliability, more power etc.
Used run 12.7 DD60 flat bed always was in the 5.5 - 6.5 mpg range
Been running EGR Cats & Cummins last 5 years even empty ( gross 65k winch oilfield trailer ) never seen better than 3.5 MPG
