Now consider that there will be folks who find they detest trucking in that first week in CDL instruction, plus those who drop out along the way for various reasons. I'd be surprised if many more than 25% survive to go on to A-seat status.

These orientation groups seem large when you start, but any organization that does training like this has long-term statistics that guide their recruitment quotas. We did the same thing in the military... they'd look at the training needs per week to maintain the force levels due to known rates of people leaving the service, moving on to higher levels of responsibility, etc. Then apply the statistics to forecast how many new recruits would have to be processed through the system. It's the same at Prime.

I was in orientation 6 weeks ago and we started out at around 50 + and by the end of the week we were down to I think 23 they were dropping like flys.

That's helpful, thanks. I have never done drugs so that's not a problem, no criminal history or anything. I was just a little worried that I may have screwed up a few dates on my employment section, and I wanna just make sure everything is good before I go be cause the last thing I wanna do is get there and have them turn me back around

There's a huge difference between inadvertently getting some dates wrong and lying... You should be ok.

Sorry to hear. It does take a while to build endurance for staying awake so long and driving. When i first went out with my trainer he got mad because I had to take a couple naps on my shift and couldn't always do my full shift. But in time, I got better and better and like Ironpony said, taking that short nap is key. I also drank the Starbucks shots (not remembering name) of strong coffee too. Anyhow, good luck and maybe you will get back soon.

I read about 100.00 for a drug test. How much money do I need to bring to orientation? I already have my CDL. Thanks

I also have my cdl, wasn't told about the 100 for drug test but only spoke to my recruiter for a couple mins as she was on her way out the door as I called.. She's suppose to be calling me in the morning and emailing me some orientation info, I'm Dave by the way if I'm the one you were introducing yourself to.

That money is for the initial DOT physical and CDL permit fee for non-CDL holders only; i.e., if you're a student (D-seat) going to PSD.

Both of you guys need not worry about this. Do bring your ATM card(s,) and a cancelled or voided check so you can set up direct deposit for your settlement checks. You could probably get by on no money, since your basic room and board is covered during orientation, but things go better if you have some cash available. You won't get a paycheck for the week you're in orientation, you'll earn money for the second, and get paid on Friday of the third week... so you need to have some money to cover your meals for those first two weeks on the road.
