Hello All,
Well today I passed the point of no return, I officially gave notice at my job and I report to Prime for orientation on June 3rd. I allready have my class A but still have to go through the training phase, I have done tons of research and Prime just seems to be a good "fit" for me. I like everything I have read and heard. I have talked to Prime drivers and they are all very helpful and love their job. Coming from business management for 40 + years this is going to be quite an adventure. Look forward to the training, even though it is long I feel it will set me up to be a safe and profitable driver. Special thanks to IP, Silent Eagle, and Ms Jamie for all your input on here, you helped me to make my decision. Silent Eagle if you are available I would love to have you as a trainer! You could teach me a lot. Thanks everyone.

Trucking Jobs in 30 seconds
Every month 400 people find a job with the help of TruckersReport.

That is exactly how I feel, I have been blessed to have never been without work for any length of time, have never drawn a dime of unemployment, and it is scarey to think if I get sent home for some reason I am totally without a job. At my age, 59, they are not all that easy to come by....lol. However I am in good health, can pass the physical, have a clean record criminal and DMV, a good work history, so I think I should be allright....(he says with fingers crossed..lol)

yea in my issue i did have only one job(it was my 1st one) and it was non- trucking. i stayed on for about two yrs then well, my life decide to change course due to a family issue. been trying to find a new job since
, hence why im wanting to be a trucker to start a new leash on life to have a stable career, to doing something im happy at.
After reading everything i can and weighting all the pathways, i'm going to see what Prime can do for me.

I'll also be there that week, but without a cdl so not sure if we'll be in the same class or not?
-
If you are there the same week, you will be attending classes together. The main difference is that those with permits are working on the computer based training and the simulators while the others are studying for their permits.
TooSlow4Words, Skydivedavec, newbietrucker007 and 1 other person Thank this. -

So having my cdl with 21 months experience including otr and refer, but not driving since 11/07; will I it be the same for me? I think read I would go into b2 phase after the first week. What tests exactly would I be expected to do? Also, what is a TWIC? Thanks
-
You're going to have to take the "refresher" course... contact a recruiter about this. TWIC cards are Transportation Worker Identity Cards, issued by the Dept. of Homeland Security- they get you into port areas, cost $135. It's cheaper than shelling out about $50 to be escorted every time you go to one to pick up a load.

Thanks again IP. I was wondering if I have to brush up on how to say my pretrip inspection for a refresher course for example. I still have the cards I wrote out to memorize it. I know how to inspect the truck/trailer but saying it perfect I have forgotten.
