For those of you who do not want to listen to your fellow drivers or if you are a skeptical newbie, or just plain doubter of good advice.....
Here is an article about the perils of leasing that the "Trucker Forum" had posted on their home page.
I know this may not be the exact right place for this topic but it seems the "questions from new drivers" thread is viewed more than other threads and is popular among newbies and experienced. Since there are so many questions posted on this topic I thought it maybe appropriate for this section.

Any questions??????
For those of you who do not want to hear it from a trucker.....

roadt..... Once you have some experience you will realize that this is not a good deal.
If you really want to be an owner operator roadt, save your money, learn the biz while you are driving as a company driver and then buy your own truck, free and clear of the mega-carrier's grasp.
As you are learning and driving as a company driver keep track of everything you do out there and that will tell you exactly where you stand if you had been an owner operator. If you like taking home time every once and while and aren't quite a hustler you may find its more worth it to be a company driver. Unless you are 100% dedicated and love living on the road and driving it just may not be worth all the headaches.
Being an owner operator is being a small business owner. Any small biz owner will tell you that they sleep, eat and breathe their business in order to be successful!
Take it one step at a time and make plans and goals to work toward.

My last company actually told people their lease wasn't a good idea. They didn't even have a lease option until a handful of drivers kept asking them to do it and so they finally did. I guess they figured if they warned a driver and he still wanted to do it they couldn't feel bad about it.

Yet another thread about leasing and how bad it is. When will the insanity stop? And when will People grow a brain and ears and learn to listen instead of letting it go in one ear and out the other...or worse have the words bounce off and get lost in space. Hell the first day of truck driving school if you go to an independent school they tell you not to lease a truck from a company. Rent to own is not really the correct term more like rent to line pockets you'll never own that truck with the way its set up. Sad thing is I've passed a few lease drivers one CRE one PRIME both were bragging about how much money they were making. I asked what their rate per mile was they said about $1.50/mile all I could do was laugh. That don't go too far now days unless your getting good discounts on just about everything you purchase.
