Reading this, and then reading the Crete a year in review thread, your story holds no water. too many holes in it. Miles dropped, new software to dispatch was started, and many drivers are happy, although not getting multiple load offers at this time. But the no freight message is less. That is when drivers sit and sit.

After 5 years at crete, perhaps it is time to enjoy some of the other companies out there.
And please, let us know how THAT goes for him...
Good Luck !! -
WOW! A lot has changed since i was at Crete. I was working for an O/O # Crete in '95. "California Bob" was the West Coast Dispatcher. I use to get 3 options over the Qualcomm. Back then it was not forced Dispatch.
Back then I was a driver that did'nt give a hoot about Rules and Regs Crete kept me for almost a year, they said I was not abidding by their rules. Hey I thought Rules were ment to be broken.
well time to go get my next load! -
1995 was a LONG time ago, a LOT has changed............
-
TLeaHeart..Too many holes...Really...When you become a driver with Crete and go through the same thing then come back and tell us what you think then...We have been involved with this company for a long time, so I think I know what I am talking about..Just because you read something doesn't make it so for everyone...
All I am trying to do is warn drivers so they don't have to go through what my Husband has gone through working for them. -
Hmmm...
Other than the two WalMart dedicated fleets, the only place I know of that dispatches loads is the 3rd floor at Lincoln, and I wasn't aware that driver's were allowed to access that area! -
First thing first. #You will never get a raise there. #No matter how much time you spend on the road. #All dispatchers there #monitor your miles to make sure it does not go pass the required amount that triggers a raise. #
Since vacation pay is based on your annaul mileage total they also monitor and limit the amount of miles you get to lower your vacation pay. #
The billboards that you have#probably seen along major highways claiming#that the company has miles Is a lie. #Seen that ad posted in truck stops or truck magazine about the companies to 25% earing $53k - $63k. #Well take that with a grain of#
salt. #25% is nothing to be bragging about when a company is this large. ##
Crete's length of haul use to be 700+ miles for national loads, now it's about 400 miles. #This change was done because more money is made off shorter loads. #For the drivers that hired on to the company as National load drivers due to its #higher earnings potential can you imagine what kind of a financial hit and hardships they are now enduring (if they are still with the company)due to this change from Crete. # No warning of this change was ever given to these national drivers. #The moral way that Crete should have handle this change is to send out a fleet wide memo or letters to drivers homes informing them of the impending change and that they have the option of leaving the company upon providing the company with an 2 weeks notice or immediately upon returning the truck to an approved terminal after notifying applicable personnels. #
Crete does not provide#Holiday pay or bonouses of any kind.
A truck companies inability to provide bonouses of any kind (especially performance bonous) should be a red flag to any self respecting driver because it signals that the company might not have a lot of miles or may be a company motivated totally by greed. #
The company is extremely dishonest with detention pay. #Their explanation upon your inquirey about unpaid detention is"if the customer dont pay it we wont". #During the course of your employment you will encounter numerous situations in which upon pickup and delivery of a load the customer will tell you an appointment was not schedule for that day or a specific time, or even worse, the customer was closed upon your arrival. #Trust me, they are well aware of whats going on. 95% of the time.
After the first couple of weeks of driving for them their true color
will appear. #They will send you to the North East, (NJ PA etc) were you will encounter a ruthlesss#dispatcher by the name of Cory. He specializes in#dispatching you on #150-200 mile loads delivering 24hrs or more after pickup. #The fellow is an extroadinarly disrespectiful individual and every chance he gets he will attempt to get you to communicate with him over the phone
in what he perceived is an intimidating manner. #Crete uses Qualcomms for communication so utilize this technology to its fullest when communicating with him or any other dispatcher. # All the dispatchers there are condesending individuals but he just happens to be the worse of the lot. To make matters worse HE HIS A MANAGEMENT FAVORITE.
If you have serious financial responsibilities, mortgages etc, and love ones whom are heavely #dependent on your earning power, please dont come to Crete. ##
The internet, social media, truck stops etc, are all powerful communication outlets that good drivers all over the country can take advantage of to force increasingly uncaring companies like Crete do the right#thing for their drivers. #
Can you imagine how fast a company would change the way they treat their#drivers for the better #if some of their drivers camed together,#puchase some highway billboard signs that advertised driver mistreatment and ripoff issues with their respective company and have the billboard sign placed a few feet from or before the companies very own billboard sign. # -
That's nice, dig up a 2 year old post to do the same rant you already did.
48Packard, Hitman and Blackadder47 Thank this. -
You don't call them just to get a load. You call them to get their butts in gear. They expect our butts in gear when we have load.
-
I know this is old but good. My ex used to team with me and he would get empty, take a nap and then start looking for the next load. Dah!
