No I'm saying you will make more money as a company driver than a L/P even at 33cpm.you will have to drive 1500 miles or more every week just to cover your expenses..do not be surprised if you get a so called pay check that says you still owe money,
I'm taking the L/P plunge

I know it is up to you in the end but I would really give training a second thought. I was a lease driver there and a mentor. As that I was able to get better loads before company and solo lease drivers and even got on the 740 dedicated account which were some really good miles. Now depending on what terminal youre out of and it will come down to who you know, you can try and hand pick your students before orientation is even over. I know as a mentor I made much better money in the lease program then I would have running solo.
Good luck with the new truck.NoBluffBuff and ucallihaul Thank this. -
No doubt mentoring can be lucrative ... But the Swift program is solid enough that you can make a modest living as a solo.
To the O/P ... congrats and good luck. Stay active on the board, there quite few that have been here awhile and are willing to answer questions. As well as learn form you.NoBluffBuff Thanks this. -
Thanks for ideas on making more money. My safety record speaks for itself on one accord, and my gut tells me that I'd be one heck of a trainer. It's for that reason of personal safety I won't do training for a while. That being said though, I know a guy could make phenominal wealth this way.
I will surely have so many questions to ask in the coming months. It's nice to see others here that once got their feet a little wet, too. -
Also...forgot to add that my home terminal is Lewiston, Idaho. I live next to Spokane...don't sense much dedicated lane work around there. They have surge over in Grandview at times, but I haven't inquired about it for a couple months. I have never been on a dedicated account. My DL said there isn't a lot.*edit* in this area for me.

Please enlighten me on how you came to the conclusion that leasing a truck will be more lucrative than company driving? You realize that as a company employee as long as you drive your miles you're guaranteed a paycheck not so in lease. Right? Oh and there is no such thing as "phenomenal wealth" in trucking unless you're a broker or own 100 trucks.
NoBluffBuff and Western flyer Thank this. -
It doesn't matter what I tell you, you are correct anyways. Right?

No I am genuinely curious as most have lost their arse fleasing. I'm wondering how you plan on beating the house. Like many in Vegas have tried and failed.

I have my assumptions, but everyone's situation is a little different. Shoot...I have a buddy who makes really good money pulling OS/OD, yet he's always broke. I have another friend who gets a paycheck on Friday...it's gone by Monday. People who have a genuine lack of control baffle me.
All of my bills for the rest of the year are paid up. Everything that I earned last year I used to pay off all my past debts. Sold my beloved car before I went to driving school. That hurt...but found one in Denver back in February. Took a plane out there, bought it, then drove 1,100 miles back home. Got out of my place and threw my belongings in storage. Finding a place to stay during hometime is NEVER a problem. Managing money is not an issue for me, I've crunched numbers for years and understand pennies on the dollar.
I'm not looking to make a killing...just double digit percentage point gains on my investment. :^P -
What a life, sold all your stuff or put it in storage..and if you have no bills besides your L/P expense that can help.but wow man just gave up on life and hunker down in a sleeper truck...just nasty...
