I see there are a lot of drivers of faster and un-governed trucks replying here. Good for you. Drive a 64 MPH truck for a few weeks and you will change your tune. The bigger problem is, too may carriers set their max foot speed and max cruise speed the same.

The two trucks in that video had to have been goverened at 60mph. I'm governed at 63 and krept up on them gradually. The big issue here is simply what you should do when faced with another truck governed close to you who is trying to pass.
-
I don't understand why governed trucks don't run a few mph under the governer. I can run as fast as I want and I set my cruise at 60mph for fuel mileage.
Point is if you run under you will always have fuel left in those moments you need it.
P.S.stay out of the middle lane when there is a third lane restriction. -
That is the issue ... what should the passee do or what should the potential passer do. There are 4 different answers to the 2 different questions. 2 answers are not good if the other responds incorrectly. But it's interesting to see how many feel we should all succumb to the lowest common denominator (them) for the duration of the roadway in question.

Unfortunately we are paid by the mile. On top of that, my company tells me that 63 is the "sweet spot" for our trucks given distance to cost per mile ratio. But in the end it's all about me and me getting there safely and in a timely manner.

This wouldn't be a problem if all trucks were governed the same.
-
How does that make any sense at all?
The real answer to this problem is no governors.cowboy_tech and Numb Thank this. -
that would be a nightmare. here's an example for you. drive the construction on 40 east or west through Arkansas look at all the trucks that bunch up just during that stretch. now picture that on every road you run on.
you could have a HUGE discussion on how e-logs can make the current situation worse, ex. i gotta run 65 for 11 hours straight cause i gotta get this load there and slowing down for 10 minutes today will kill my clock..., but lets not go there.
or how about looking at it from a safety issue. would you rather be cruising down the road all by yourself just jamming to Liberace or drag race that other companies truck for 15 miles? personally i'd rather be by myself, less to go wrong. face it, with some of the drivers that are out there passing them is nothing short of a controlled crash.
it's just simple courtesy, why hold another driver back when you don't have to? saying i'm not gonna slow down so a truck that runs a bit faster than me can pass makes just as much sense as saying, i'm gonna run the middle lane all the time because i can. it's not illegal to do that, and you are just minding your own business doing that, but why?
----totally off topic here but it kills me when drivers with "DO NOT PASS ON THE RIGHT" stickers do 63-65 in the middle lane FORCING people to pass them on the right.
cowboy_tech Thanks this. -
You can't tell me I have to stay behind a slower truck for miles and miles because you have to roll. I really don't care to look at the back of a Swift trailer for hours. I'd rather not have a truck directly infront of me. I like to see what is going on in front of me for miles....
When are people gonna learn that we all share the road.......give and take....not take take take....and demanding the other guy to give give give....If I see you coming, I'm not gonna jump out in front of you. But if you are a mile or more behind me, I'm gonna jump out there. And if Swift wants to drag race.....well....there you go....Mr. Steering wheel Bonehead Trucker
Disclaimer: I just used Swift as an example....I don't hate Swift...no.....Werner??? ........cobratori Thanks this. -
That was a joke. Guys weren't even close together for long. Not like the Prime vs other turd side by side for 10 + miles.
