I have been trucking for almost 3 years and recently my wife was diagnosed with terminal cancer and does not have much time to live. I rent an apartment and was thinking after my wife is gone there would be no reason to pay for an apartment that I would only see 4 days a month. I could live in my truck, put my stuff in a storage for a year or two and save a lot of money. I was wondering if anyone does that and would have any advice. i figured i could get a po box for my mail and swing into town every so often to pay bills.

Not a po box. A mail forwarding service or similar, like a ups store mailbox that you can claim as a home address. just to make life simpler. Sorry to hear about your wife.
Take care and prayers for both of you.

My advice is don't accept a death sentence and don't do Chemo therapy it will finish her off much faster than the cancer could. As far as living in the truck there were many threads on this subject already. I will search for them.

Just said a prayer for your family. I myself have been living in the trk about a year. It has saved me a ton of money. I have a PO box in the city where family members live and I swing by every couple of months to visit get my mail and pay bills. Most of my bills I pay OTR. It has worked for me.

I would do as Krashdragon suggested and get a mail service center instead. That way if you buy something online you will have more shipping options as some sellers won't ship to a PO Box address. And some of these places you can call to see if the package has arrived, they're kinda like your personal assistant. :) As far as bills, you can pay that online. My prayers to you and your wife.

Very sorry to hear about your wife.

I am preparing to also start living out of my truck. Trying to decide what can be gotten rid of, what goes into storage and what needs to be more accessible is challenging.

I m terribly sorry to hear the bad news about your wife. As far as living on the road, if you have a laptop or smart phone, have your bills and mail come to you by e mail, that way you get access to your important mail wherever you may be. Me personally, I have most of my mail come to me via e-mail, and I have all my bills set up on auto-pay or web bill pay to eliminate the need to get back by the house and trying to pay bills on time. The last thing that you want to worry about on the road is a post office or drop box. As far as your belongings I would put them in storage. Lastly, every once in awhile get away from the truck for a few days

    Sorry about your wife.

Many live in their trucks and put there things in storage , you can get a hotel room for a weekend at decent price to get out of the truck now and then.
