If you apply pressure to your clutch where's its touching the floor will it burn thru the clutch? It's so we can idle the truck(company driver)! Company doesn't care how hot it gets! I read online that as long as the clutch is fully pushed in or fully released it will not wear or burn thru it is that true or false on a semi! Thanks!

As long as you are stopped pressing the clutch pedal to the floor (clutch brake) you will not do any damage. Once moving you do not want to go into the clutch brake.

That trick may or may not work it depends on the ecm settings for the idle timer, one company that i worked for had theirs set that if i stepped on the brake then pushed in the clutch it would idle...actually just holding the clutch down sounds way too easy to trick it, word on that would get out fast and everybody would be doing it.

That also sounds like it would be rough on the pilot bearing, theyre not made to be engaged that long.

Depends on how the no idle is setup. Sometimes leaving the tractor brake out works. Sometimes waiting 5.minutes until the engine light flashes works. With our trucks, if its between 70-30 degrees, the truck will not idle no matter what. I've tried every single trick. Former company with APUs, those trucks were set to cut off after 5 minutes no matter what.

Are you saying that you are going to sit still and hold the clutch down for long periods of time? Just to keep the truck running? In what situation would you do that? Have you considered that if you get caught doing that you may lose your job?

there is a tool that you can buy. that holds the steering wheel still to the brake pedal. if the clutch is easy press. it would work.

    but still.

Because it get so hot in the truck to where u can't breath.... And yeah he has considered he might loose his job... But he hasn't been able to sleep because if its 68 outside its hot as balls inside the truck the company doesn't care they are heartless .... What other ways are there I figured out how to idle during the day when it hot.... Jus not at night... I tried setting the trailer brake and releasing the tractor brake... I tried applying pressure to the gas pedal... The warning for the shut down still comes on! We don't know what else to do... He's gunna end up sick or something! Don't judge! Alot of Werner drivers prolly rig their stuff up! We are at the wits end! And in a car u can hold down the clutch to the floor and it won't burn..( manual) how's it different in a semi .. A manual transmission is pretty much the same in a semi... I really don't think it would burn and after how long and how would the company no..
