Ask the shipper who the broker is and call them directly and come up with some story about the BOL not having the delivery address, etc...on the BOL and if they could provide b/c you lost the rate con and then casually slip in the question about " What was that agreed upon rate again " question in there. Chances are out of PA that may actually be the rate - haven't sent a truck there in a long time b/c I got hosed the few times I did and learned my lesson but maybe it is better now or maybe I was just the ####### that took low rates to begin with.

OK I get the picture, here is some serious advice - WALK AWAY

drop the truck off, I wouldn't even ask for money unless he is willing to pay you what you should get in wages so I would take a loss on your taxes and get away from this type of agreement. Do NOT worry about paying the truck off, DO NOT worry about what he feels is right or wrong, get away from this.

What stops him from taking the truck back by reporting it stolen and then you have to take him to court?[/QUOTE]

So what happened to this truck you bought?

Did you at get a receipt for the down payment?

That's not really a deal. Have you shopped around?

Are you getting receipts or a weekly statement or something showing the remaining balance?

So you own the trailer free and clear? Sounds like you basically bought the trailer and are making payments on the truck have I got this right?

I guess it depends on the details like how much the DP was and what the selling price of the truck was and what the trailer is worth, BUT at least you own a trailer. If you can stick it out for "a few weeks" like you said it may be OK.

Seems like you are NOT obligated to a monthly payment to him. He only gets paid if he finds you loads so I don't see how he can repo your truck. Is he screwing you on the linehaul...maybe.

It would be nice to see the actual rate sheet from the broker....(and payment to him from the broker) but one thing at a time I guess. Given that you have no real bargaining power other than your ability to make money for him, I guess my biggest question/concern for right now would be this: I hope you got the purchase price of the truck in writing and I hop you are getting receipts and statements for your payments.

i'm a company driver but i get paid 25% of the linehaul so after the fuel surcharge. the second that i can not verify with 100% certainty what the load pays through other means aside from my boss is the day i tell my boss to shove it and he understands that as an O/O or L/O whatever i would expect no less. percentage work rely's on honesty and certainty if u dont have one or the other im 99% sure u are getting shafted. I even as a company driver get the actual load confirmation straight from the broker not just whatever the owner decides to give emailed to me on every load i pick up so think about that. why would he "refuse to tell u the actual load pay" if he didnt have something to hide?

I think you should have an ''agents'' meeting and 90% of you should work on Personal Relationship issues with the BCO's.That would be a great start for the new and improved kirby vaccum salesman that Landstar is hiring these days..

I have never seen the hiring criteria so bad and so low when it comes to the hiring of the Landstar Agents. It is very comical...To say the least...Are they hiring future agents from the short bus or what..?...Come on,step it up and find us BCO's some good paying loads,LET'S GO....

Well hello everyone I'm finally back I've been on the road.
I'm back to answer a few of the questions you asked with a new phone so hopefully this one won't
    Screw up so much
About the agreement I have is all on paper
They send me a by load statement
I have records of everything including phone calls, emails, texts eet
I get a confirmation but I'm not getting it right away. As I said I'm trying to pay the balance off
as soon as possible so I can start demanding more after I get the title of the truck

The past two weeks have been kind of crazy there's a lot I'm getting introduced to.

One thing I'd like to find is someone willing to confirm for me the rates I'm getting he gets loads mostly from chile Robinson and land star but you know I have to double check, he might be lying the truth or not I don't know yet
I'd like to be able to have a couple of you guys check if in fact this rates are correct
I said a couple cause if one is on the road at least I can double check with someone else
Let me know if you are willing to do so
I would really like to completely get to trust him but I've been through some crappy deals

Again to all of you thank you for al the advice and see you out there good luck
