    Hi,

There is an insurance company that specializes in this type of insurance. I don't know if I can mention it in this thread but you can email and I'll give you the name and agent. My cost per month for my dually set up is $460. I don't know how your driving records looks like though. Worth a shot because you may save some money. $860 seems excessive. Skeophi@hotmail.com

By the way, do you run weekly with your set up?

    Thanks,

    Sk

    Hi,

I live in California. The rules and regulations here are tough! I'm ignorant to this new carb and smog regulations here. I'll check it out with the CHP DOT unit officer to hopefully get the clear and precise answer. I was thinking a day cab with 2 axles and buy a separate 8 car trailer. Seen some go for about $15K in decent DOT inspected condition. However, I'm confused. If they are not allowing trucks older then 2007 then why would it make sense to buy an old one? Please explain and appreciate your input. Thanks,

    SK

I gotta drive a 1996 truck with 960XXX miles because I can't afford a CARB compliant truck but I can run this til 2016. I'll sell it to ya then!

I didn't realize you live in cali, so disregard that post. It's only ca. that you need a 2007 truck or newer, every other state you can run what you wish. The only exception to the older trucks in cali is if you want to spend $15,00- $20,000 on a particulate filter, but I don't guess many people are doing that.

Wow, I am thinking of starting out and starting with a 7/8 would take some guts.
