passed the irt yard in cali yesterday... saw a couple trucks sitting and lots of tanks it looked like... do they do orientation there? just looked like a shop from the freeway and not much of an office
-
its the old peterbilt dealer, theirs enough office for what they do an a decent breakroom and the shop, its a huge upgrade from what they called a yard in tulare.Rugerfan Thanks this.

well my Canada run is pretty much shot... there's like a slew of new drivers running the port of newark back into Canada, so there's hardly any loads left. Also the port is doing appointments now so IRT can only book so many loads which means i can empty out on a Tuesday and wont be able to reload until Thursday because all of the appointment slots for Wednesday will already be taken.. I need to find me another lane to go play in. I dont think i can wait for winter to come back and scare everyone back south.

Been seeing more of your tankers around Toronto / Oakville area recently.

well my last month has been hell was wide open now been sitting way to much and there still hiring got offered a job starting at 15 dollars a hour hauling trusses home every night off weekends I hate to jump jobs but ant looking good to be honest
-
I offered to go anywere mitch they told me real slow I can't live off this was making 1000 bring home during the winter
-
we have a tank wash in Oakville, which at times can look like a small satellite terminal if you get there at the wrong time of the week.
granted i don't like going to Cali, i've never turned down a load. It's just that they try to keep the Canada drivers on the east coast to keep running the loads off of the port of newark. But it seems like they've hired more then they have freight for. But i'll hang in another year just to check things out. My checks are still good, i'm just not happy with the sitting all day and night before i can load or unload.FLATBED Thanks this. -
They offered me to come to orientation last week to run loads out of the port of newark ,but i am more interested in regional/local ..seems odd they want to hire more people if its that slow.

everyone is pretty positive that it's just because the port went to appointments. before there weren't any appointment, and IRT would book more loads then we had drivers to pull them. So there was always a couple of loads left out. Half of the time i'd just dead head back to Jersery for a wash cause i knew there was going to be a load on the port waiting for me in the morning. But now that they're doing appointments, IRT can only book as many loads as there are slots. And ya have to keep in mind that we're not the only company pulling off the port. So if the port has 30 appointment slots a day, at the most IRT may be able to get 15. The rest go to TD Smith, Bynum, Oakley, Caldonia (sp) and Marco.wasted Thanks this.
