NETTTS never told me that I would be hired locally or it would be "Easy"

Is it impossible to get hired locally? maybe right out of trucing school. but yes, it's going to be very hard to do so. You need to be in the right place at the right time im assuming. The best bet right now locally for me would be to haul for a Concrete, or Tri-Axle dump truck, but im not looking for seasonal work.

My plan is to go OTR for 1-2 Years while getting my endorsments on my days off at home. After that I will start looking for a Local Hazmat/Tanker job, and if I can't find that then ill look for a Local Doubles job. I'm sure once I complete my two years OTR ill be able to find a local job easier then if I was to try and get one immeaditly after graduating trucking school.

Right now is the best time to get on local since it is busy. For LTL YRC, Conway and ABF all take students and have training. You could run local or line with them. As far as OTR goes, if you want to see the country and make your bones, Schneider has always been talked highly about, to me anyway. I have talked to several of their drivers and they seemed to do ok there. CRST, US xpress, CR England and Werner I have heard horror stories! I have never worked for Schneider, so I can't say for sure. The most important thing is not to job hop. Go somewhere and stay there for at least a year or 2 if you can stand it. Good luck.

Are you attending at the Mass location? What do you think so far? I am starting the 22 week course on June 3rd at the Pawtucket location. They are holding a job fair on the 1st of June where a lot of companies will be there to answer questions and apply if interested. From what I was told, some LTL's in the area will hire NETTTS grads who complete the long course right out of training. Will have to see......

    Good luck!

I attend at the somers location. It's great everyone is friendly and the instructors know what they're talking about because they all have over 20+ years experience in the industry. There's 6 exams which is one every 2 weeks and its excellent information. It does get a little boring towards the end because by week 10 your just wanting to get out in the field and do maneuvers. In the 12 weeks you have to get your permit, medical card, and take a drug test. Then your on randoms for the entire time. I just finished the class room this Friday and I'm going out to the field this Tuesday. You can also graduate 3 weeks early so you can ship out to whatever company you decide for OTR or local.

Some LTLs will hire just NETTTS students another good option about the school is they have a lifetime placement for jobs for the students as well.
