I was only on layoff due to the fact that two dock guys who were on part-time status bumped myself and other guys when they became drivers. Otherwise I would stil be peddling which Im glad im not. From what I heard they are looking to make it two separate lists now for drivers and dock guys, so if they change onto a different list they cannot now bump anyone. I agree with that as how can you bump a guy whos got years of experience when you dont have the experience

It's really hard to say. I'd be on the safe side and plan on 40k, if you make more than great. When you get laid off you should be able to get unemployment. I was laid off about 3 months after Thanksgiving. I went to work for FedEx Ground running OTR till I got the call back. Then I told FedEx goodbye! -
YEa at least YRC has the deceny(however you spell it) to lay you off if it gets slow, as others will make you starve and quit so they dont have to pay you unemployment. First time I got laid off atound election only for 2 weeks. Then once the new year hit I was put onto hard layoff, and was on that for almost 2 months until I was able to transfer. And I was the bottom man there for a while and they had me coming in on break every day pretty much, even the boss said and you thought you'd wouldnt work, he even checked my dispatch and said hes glad im working as he told me it was busy... The boss can be a hard@#$ at times but as long as you do your job the right way without problems hes not too bad. Last year peddling I made about 30k, that was from March 1st till end of the year. This year Im looking at about 40-45k, Im also claiming single 0 so I got more taxes taken out as well. Also for a 24 year old 40-45k isnt all that bad, my only bills are the rent and car insurance. There are guys at my terminal making a lot more but then again they got senority and families so less gets taken out.
Squonk told me how much he has made a week, so you can probly get close to 50k -
Yeah, you can make 50k out of Indy. It's a good terminal with good runs.

Well had our longest Sub-turn run today... went to Philadelphia(Bensalem) which is 162 miles each way. What a ball buster that is... well only on the NJ turnpike with all the crazy road work and the jurrasic park rain we been having. Got there, all I had to do was drop the set where it was, then hook to a van, which had both dangerous and inhalation hazard YAY FUN. I had one of the newer 885 units with the D13 so it pulled and drove really nice since the truck is still fairly new lol.
Went back and had 4.75 left(they held me up for quite a while before going out) and of course the one coordinator is a @#$hole and he will make you wait that fulll half hour you give up before he hands you anything... so I got a 145 and had 4.25 hours left... no biggy ony 87 miles right? WRONG got held up at the weigh station for a while. Got to terminal had 2.25 left, told them so he said ok just leave park you lead into this door and take back the van instead of the set we have. By the time I was done and PTI taking the placards off I had 1.5 left... I was making awesome time getting home until you hit the bridge where trafic gets backed up and by the thruway, just made it on the 14th... phew. Thankfully the truck they gave me actually did 65 and pulled nicely through the hills
well got tonight and tomorrow off. tonight going out with the boys, one of my best friends is up from NC. then tomorrow is my 3 month so taking the woman out... maybe she will shut up now LOL -

Hey guys, I read in trucking news that YRC posted a positive operating income of 9.9 million this quarter. YRC Freight was responsible for 64.8% and YRC Worldwide mainly Reddaway, Holland and New Penn were responsible for 35.2% Yikes! I knew the Yellow/Roadway guys were getting screwed! I hardly see any of them around here anymore.

The union steward at Indy terminal told me they were looking to hire 50 more drivers at our terminal.
