electronic logs can be any form that's electronic. they don't need to be tied to the trucks ecm.

never heard of a reg that states certification is required to have those stickers on the truck. but i've heard truckers don't get asked for them as much.

when i'm asked for my logs. they don't ask to see my 7 days or how my laptop works. they just usually want to see what my 11/14/70 look like.

only been asked for my print outs once.

I don't really care about "him" nor anyone else who doesn't understand the difference in a OBRD and a using a computer program to pretend that they are running electronic logs.. they do so at their own peril...

Except the fact that you are simply making paper logs out on a computer..

Well here is your chance to address it.

I run DDL and they have told me it is NOT compliant.

Here is one that has another opinion

I get an error every time I try to log onto a bureaucratic site with Linux, Rick. Going to try it on Windows while wife is busy organizing our lives again. ON edit, I still need more information on exactly what to look for, the link didn't load properly.

So far, no data loggers and no C-pap stuff, we have a few drivers using C-pap by choice of them and their physician. We have pre-printed loose leaf and inspection books, and a shop that cares now.

Part of the reason for the blanket pass on by was the assurance given when encouraging companies to go to E-logs that they would receive less scrutiny, along with other benefits to the company to make swallowing the cost a little easier. Not all the states are going along with the less scrutiny from what I'm hearing.

Might be where I run, or my appearance, but I seldom have shown my log book since the first year or so. One of our former drivers is on Peoplenet with his new company, and he has gotten tagged to make sure he knows how it works, i.e. is certified to operate the unit. He also went on a B-pap after he could afford one, the trouble with that is, he has to have an inverter in the truck to use it.

doesn't matter how the logs are done. a computer is electronic. and everytime the cops asks for my logs. i whip out the laptop. and he says. OH, ELECTRONIC. most of the time they just say nevermind. but they've been looking more lately.

    i use trucklogger.

my logs are generated just like a QC. to which both devices are electronic.

We use Loadtrek. There is no certificate from them and they have not been questioned by scale personnel. The instruction sheet though is important, we had a driver lose his and he got cited.

Under the current EOBR standards you are correct. Under the coming AOBR standards as proposed the unit MUST be tethered to the truck's ecm.
