With all the 4 wheelers TRYING to get y'all I am humbled by all you guys and gals that have gotten over a million! I know I've done it in all sorts of vehicles from motorcycle to 18....

But not more than 250K in a rig. No on road accidents in a rig and one fixit ticket from the SC Dot.

    Speedloader Thanks this.

I have driven; 1,728,000 (accident and tickets Free miles) since November 1995 to April 2013 that I called it "Quits"; trucking industry has been "Contaminated" in the worst way. There is nothing anyone can do about it. **Mark my words; the days are near were "Truck drivers" will be a thing of the past. Currently a "four wheeler" is being tested around the Nation; WITH NO ONE ON THE STEERING WHEEL,(no passengers at all) only a couple of japanese "WIZ KIDS" following the vehicle at a prudent distance together with a very sofisticated Multi computer set up doing all the "Brain stuff" monitored by them and very carefully watched by "UNCLE SAM", and when they get it all figured out and perfected; "Big Trucks" are next. **Heck ! they've done it with Aircraft since the 80's (that I recalled). *** Back in 2006 I went to a warehouse to pick a few loads of "Cans"...and from an Iron cage I watched perplexed how multiple "Forklift Loaders" Loaded the Trailers and transitting all over the place WITH NO OPERATORS ON THEM....only multiple Laser lights emanating from the vehicle "Scanning" their sorroundings for a perfect, close encounter FREE Operation. **SO GUESS WHAT'S NEXT!!

FYI CessnaPilot - The Europeans have already successfully navigated a transport truck at highways speeds, all done by computer, similar to what has been done in CO and CA. It's only a matter of time before the first computer logs onto this forum with a user name like 'GeekBoy', and tells the human old timers that he/she/it has just logged 7.8 million miles without a ticket OR sleeper berth time !!!

Owned 2 different trucks and have driven for a few different companies and different types as well. Overall I'm most proud of no injury accidents. Four wheelers have been parked in the wrong spot a couple times but nothing in the last 25 years. Got the metal bending done early, lolzzzz.

From oilfield, aggregate hauling, reefers to the west coast, tankers all over the place and machinery up and down the soft squeezable center of the Midwest down to Texas and back, I have seen and enjoyed many different views from the drivers seat. I really enjoy the experience of the journey from A to B and maybe even C sometimes. It's not for the faint hearted and O/O's have a special viewpoint on this over all other drivers, no disrespect meant to company drivers. You can decide to do your job and have fun or get caught up in all the crap out there from verbal distractions to physical ones, no explanations needed here. Many and I mean MANY fail yet many succeed.

Started by doing service work for a small trucking company that hauled coal. I did tires and service work after hours when I was a junior in high school which allowed me the chance to drive the trucks on company property. 5 & 4's were standard issue in those days and everything had spring suspension and maybe and I mean MAYBE A/C. All tires had tubes and most trucks didn't have power steering except in the bicep's of the driver. When a truck was a runner you could see the exhaust glow at the elbow under the cab and there was a small flame at the top of the stack. :biggrin_25520:

All in all, I am working on my 2nd million now after 31 years in the business. Sorry to be so long winded but most of the drivers out there today don't know or care to know where the business they seem to want to be in started or came from.

    Good luck and God Bless!:biggrin_25525:

2.7 million miles with about 50-60 speeding tickets between 1981 and 1990, I had a Timelock run for Bekins Van Lines from Milpitas, CA to Boston and back every week for 3 of those years. I had to hire a co-driver and I would wear them out, went through 7 in 2 1/2 years. I probably did 60-65% of the driving and there really was no time to waste since the speed limit was 55 back then. I think I had 5 or 6 different licenses in those days. Times sure have changed, I believe that in the first 10 years that I drove I was asked for my logbook maybe 5 times total.
