in short, if the company that screwed you one way or another reads what you say ? maybe the industry as a whole should establish direct lines of communication with the ownership or vp. If not enjoy the comments and good luck with your company reputation ! that includes law enforcement and legal representation who without a doubt check in here when things boil up or public safety is on the line

I have been in trucking since 1976 with the Military, and then in civilian trucking mainland USA since 1996. Trucker by choice, (since I have other trades that are currently "Hot" in our present economy. I made it a point since the beggining to, research each company before working for them, talk to at least 5 or 6 drivers of the chosen company to get their imput and then work for the company 12 months minimum No matter what; in order to be able to create a good assesment. I have worked with ALL the major companies and a couple of owner operators. YEP!! 17 (seventeen) companies in Total. ***Reason for that?? ** A Book is in the "works".
All companies operate under the same scope; the industry and derregulatio, goverment control and oversight promotes that behavior. Always remember, they have Lawyers; and individuals that steer them to the right direction in order to "Walk the Fine" Line of the Law.
In addition lots of drivers, (not all) are " Intelectually, Financially, and common Knowdledge Challenged", being that the main reason for their "Decission making" fouled up! (Sorry Boys; take this as Constructive Criticism" for improvement. (Take it like a Man) and turn around and Fix it. ** Today companies are trying the best to "Modify" their behavior; but All within the scope of "Money Making" possibilities. One thing.. "Money making Trucking days" are Gone! Safety is the Main concern..(thats good). And soon; the long overlooked Fact about "Paper Logs" is going to be thing of the past. Google it;; There are thousands of drivers in Jail, broke and without a Job or a License due to "Logs". And Finally (for now); Medical Factors are the thing of the day. ***Google the last "Expert Panel Recommendations " on Obstructive Sleep Apnea and Commercial Motor Vehicle Driver Safety to FMCSA as of January 14th 2009.
You will be surprised and worry.. !! ** Until the next Post.

How many more companies and years of experience do you need to write a book that nobody is going to care about?

He calls it research. We call it job hopping. The general public doesn't even think about trucks . And the drivers already know the story. I think I would choose a new subject to research, like women.

If youve been trucking that long, it isnt by choice!! It means you suck at the other trades.................

@ meltom, losttrucker and loneranger, what cessna was trying to say is that the majority of drivers are a bunch of dipwads, in a nice way. Only a fool turns up their nose at experience. Personally I think your 3 little sophomoric responses are indicative of WHY the industry is able to screw over good men and women drivers the way they do. This mentality the three of you exhibit is what makes old school drivers sick. I see a bunch of supposedly grown men and women driving for the corperates, with their little gps systems and electronic logs who don't make a pimple on a trucker's behind, who love to run their mouths and it makes me want to never say that I was a trucker. It's embarrassing to be associated with. ......At least be safe out there. Trashy
