Real cheap, with their new equipment with APU'S and all. I would want all of my hundreds of thousands of dollars secure in a place that I paid for to decrease the chance of anything happening to them. They're cheap because you would have to share a room with someone for FOUR days after giving you a job. How did you make it through training with another person in a truck for at least a couple of weeks (assuming you had to do this)?
The bright side is that they aren't the only company and I hope you find the right fit for you, but don't keep bashing them before even driving for them because of things you don't agree with. Not your company, not your rules. There are things I don't like with my company but I deal with them because the good far outweighs the bad.
Sorry Joe, rant over.

I met a driver who's out of Rancho Cuc and he said he was home every weekend. I think he said he did CA, AZ and NV. But silly me, I didn't ask him what his rate was.
As for the Canadian thing, I wonder what that is, exactly? I'm a Frostback by birth, so I have no problem driving up to the land of Ice and Snow, tho I know border stuff can be a hassle but that mostly pertains to food, I would guess. I know that they ship toilet paper out of Halsey to all the Costcos incl the ones in Canada.
The downside, I would assume, is at least 4 weeks away from home.Last edited: May 22, 2013

not really sure what amanzanedo is talking about. if you are willing to work otr then you can make good money at gti. notice i say "OTR". this is truck driving and trying to work regional and be home every week is going to reduce your ability to make money.shippers do not schedule their freight around your schedule.
if you are willing to run the US fleet and stay out for 4 weeks at a time then you can do well here. i have been here 4 years and make close to $60k every year. on pace to exceed that this year with the new bonus program and i really dont work that hard.
we have excellent equipment and steady freight.. sure i would like better hometime;but it is what it is..i have looked at other companies and they just dont measure up..i refuse to work for a company that wants me to stay in my truck in extreme weather conditions and not allow me to idle or not provide an apu all while they are lounging in air conditioned offices and sleep in their own beds every night and then have the nerve to say they appreciate their drivers.. "B/S"..gti does take care of us out here..quetzalcoatl, roadlt, Weeble Kneeble and 2 others Thank this. -

Gordon is one of the top companies for students
Gordon takes really good care of their equipment
Gordon has a steady freight base which keep their drivers moving

If you live in Chicago and you have 7 years verifiable otr experience and drive the US dry van fleet you will get .40 per mile. If someone is offering you .43 like Crete does then take it. However,be prepared to be sitting in the northeast truck stops a lot. I learned a long time ago it really doesn't matter how much you get a mile when you are parked.
You said you were offered .30 a mile but there has to be a lot of info you are leaving out. -

I had a similar problem with verifying employment but I had all my log books and they accepted them.. good luck
