know a guy in oklahoma who has 3 speeding tickets(2 in truck) and was temporary suspension(90 days) who has experience but is being turned down by the big guys.anybody know where he can get a OTR gig? I've told him he may have to wait untill that suspension is a year old and one of those tickets fall off his MVR. he has a family to support and could use the help.

Are you that guy? LOL :biggrin_2559:With that kind off record you would be better off looking for a small private company, that you can sort of sweet talk your way in. The majority of medium size to large companies have strict guidelines for insurance purposes and they really don't need to lower their standards to accept someone with a bad record, when they can hire drivers with average to perfect records. Three speeding tickets including two speeding tickets in a commercial vehicle will be hard for any company to swallow, :biggrin_2552: because now you are a possible safety and legal hazard in one of their vehicles. In their eyes not only do you have a reckless concern for others, you are a financial risk. If you were to get into an accident, your record will be brought up as you having a history of bad driving incidents, and the company that took an unnecessary risk on you is now libel for millions. I am not saying its impossible, but you would fare better if you let some time pass. Maybe in 3-5 years good trucking companies will look at you again. :biggrin_25517:

no i'm not him,i only have one overweight on my 10 year record(knock on wood). what you say is what i told him,he needs to look for a small shop that will run him.he was working for a guy near him that pulled his truck off the road for unknown reasons-it was in poor shape for OTR when i saw it. just asking if anyone knows where i can tell him to look,he does not have computer and internet access/knowledge.

yea but i don't have anything against me, but one accident that wasn't my fault but if you wait for over three years most big or good trucking companies won't look at you, without a refresher course just a thought:biggrin_25513: :biggrin_25523:

i'll repeat this statement-IT AINT ME!! i'm an owner-op with only one truck trying to help someone i know find something with his screwed up driving record! i told him he shot himself in the foot by getting these tickets, and i thought maybe someone out here on this site could help.like maybe knowing of a small outfit in the midwest he could try.he does not have a computer nor does he know how to use one,as i have suggested he go online and apply through one of the trucking websites.

Its going to be very difficult to find anybody who will hire him until all the tickets (including suspension) are at least 1 year old...
