That's what I assumed so that's why I never even bothered really. Plus, I was team driving and there wasn't really that much downtime that wasn't sitting in a shipper or receiver's doors.
Kits are getting hard to find at stores, but I still find some online. The only problem with that is I've still yet to find an online RC retailer that I actually like to buy from. I've never really had any problems, just seems like everything RC related online is very slow, have bad customer service and I always wonder to myself if I'll actually get what I ordered. I purchase a lot of things online outside of the hobby, but I just don't like a lot of the RC ones for some reason.
Now that I have a local job I thought I'd have all sorts of time to fly. Every day I've had free time has been raining or windy as hell. At least in CA it was usually calm in the morning but I can't even count on that here.

There are a few small, laser cut kit makers in the US who sell directly, and most have a good rep with customers. www.stevensaero.com is one, and there are handful of others. I've not built one of stevens planes, yet, but I want to. I've got a foamie kit from crashtesthobby.com I put together with intentions of hauling it around in the truck. Ugly, tough, and functional, like me.
Nothing wrong with the customer support of big online RC suppliers, as long as you speak Chinese.

Don't know if its available over there, but I've got a Hofner 'shorty' travel guitar, described as a 'baseball bat' with a humbucker!Gibson scale neck n lil stunted body, plays great at home too!Take it away with a little Orange 3w battery amp, takes up no room, still gives reasonable tone/sound

I'm looking at getting my next plane from Crash Test Hobby. I was working down the road from them and was going to try and pick it up in the truck. Ended up moving back east and needed to keep my money for the move and for a short gap in paychecks between jobs. They have some awesome stuff though.
I haven't been able to fly for nearly a month now. Getting thunderstorms everyday I'm off, or it's just plain windy if it's not storming. I miss those calm mornings I could count on in the desert. -
I can't live without a guitar. There is always one on the truck

I'm a geek. I like to bobtail/bus to used bookstores on a day off, stock up on sci-fi, then leave stacks of read books at the terminal. I'm convinced I'm confusing the daylights out of the other drivers! Books??

I tried that. I build tanks and figures but couldn't get enough lighting in the sleeper to do it. I even bought a large tackle box for tools and paints but even with a desk lamp set up, I couldn't see well enough to do it. Now, I just surf the Web and play computer games on my laptop.

Wouldn't be easy to tote the scuba gear around!

have been carrying a portable keyboard with me since they became available in the early 1990's. The one now is a Yamaha PSR-910. I am a lounge organist and I perform at local festivals and nursing homes...Also carry a bicycle at all times. Do about 50 miles a week, just did 25 miles in and around Ottawa Ontario. Camera is the 3rd item....
If trucking isn't fun, I am going to look for something else. But for now I love my job... -
I used to bring my trumpet and flute along with me, but don't have much time for that with this current job. Although the trumpet can be kinda loud...didn't use to like playing when I was parked next to other trucks, but the flute isn't all that loud.
I've been thinking about taking drum lessons. I already use my steering wheel as one, it also doubles as a timpani.
