A month ago I made the move from OTR semi to RV hauling. I have a 3500 dually and have been delivering campers within the states. Now that my renewed passport has come I want to run into Canada. I am wondering if there are specific border crossing rules I need to know about. I have been researching online and have found some info but cannot find an answer to the question of how much fuel I can bring across the border. I have a 34 gallon stock tank and a 98 gallon auxiliary tank. I was told by another driver that I can only carry 50 gallons across, but cannot either confirm or disprove what I was told. Since this is a very important piece of info I was wondering if anyone could tell me the facts or point me where to find out. Also, any other tips that you may have that are not easily accessable through the normal websites would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for all help and info.

I have heard that rumor about fuel but never heard of it being enforced . Be sure you know about the new e-manifest system that went into effect in November .
Where will you be hauling ? There is a new supercoop on the 402 EB Putnam and they are building one WB .
There are numbers here you can call for info . http://www.1-directory-international-movers.com/customscanada.htmarpta2 Thanks this. -
I will be hauling to Weyburn SK. I think I'll be crossing on 39 just north of Minot, ND. I have to investigate the E-manifest, never even heard of it.

As long as your aux tank is plumbed in the engine you'll be fine. If by auxillary tank you mean something sitting in the box tied down with bungee cords you could be in trouble. Weyburn is simple, less than 1 hour from Portal ND. And nothing much between the border and Weyburn but a few sloughs, wheatfields, and oilwells. You'll pass thru Estavan SK on the way. There is a truck stop in Weyburn and a scale outta town that is hardly ever open. Have your company look into the e-manifest deal, you'll need to PARS the shipment before you reach the border, jump thru the hoops and it's a pretty cool border crossing, albeit small.

If you deliver in or transport through Saskatchewan you will need to get a permit. That permit will cover fuel taxes etc. The company your leased to should be able to give you all that info. Or I can list the phone number for you tomorrow. All the loads I take go to Alberta but I always enter at Portal/North Portal. Just make sure you know all the prohibited items that are not allowed into Canada.arpta2 Thanks this.
