We've got a 2006 Freightliner FLD 120 SD with a Detroit 60 series. Going down the road loaded at 1500 rpm in high gear, I can press the accelerator to the floor and the boost will go up to 27 lb. If I let off the accel completely and slap the accelerator to the floor the boost will go to about 40-45 and it will go. The boost will stay there till you reach speed and let off the accelerator. In other words you can't get the boost up to 40 pressing on the accelerator normally. It will go to about 27 and that's it. Why won't the boost go up just pressing on the accelerator instead of having to slap it?
thanks!

how's the DDEC set-up? If I remember correctly, there's a setting in there for passing. Pretty much used by fleets to control mileage.
-
Has it always been that way?
-
Since we've had it, which is only a couple of months. Thanks for the help rebel127, getting a new VPOD tomorrow. Back with updates in a couple of days!

can a new turbo cause exhaust back pressure noise?
-
Whats the noise sound like? Is it the same model of turbo you took off?
-
I had a new turbo put on. old 1 original was a garrett. new one was b/w but was a direct replacement. checked the numbers. it is for my type engine & h.p. not sure if the sound is due to turbo or just a coincidence. but since new turbo, when I am in a pull, loaded. I hear a sound, that sounds like back pressure. there is no affect on performance or in any negative way at all. just the sound. this is only when I hit a slight grade or any grade loaded. when empty, does not make the sound. I can hear when driving sounds like it is coming from under the truck. at first I thought I had a hole somewhere in exhaust sys. can't find anything wrong. everything else, idle, m.p.g. temp, nothing out of the ordinary. no codes. the sound does not seem to have any affect, but I want to know what is causing it. just weird.

Sounds like the vanes might be set differently on this replacement.

it sounds like if your in a pick up truck with duel exhaust doing about 40 m.p.h. & then go from drive & throw it in low. ya hear the poppin & back pressure until vehicle get into the low speed range.
