Faxed my abstract in about a hour ago and gave him a call. He says he's going to pass my resume onto hr and go from there. Thanks for handing it to him for me.

depends what you're after.. if you're a single guy and just need shared accomodation theres plenty and reasonably priced, i found a shared apartment when i got here last may and the roomie was a cool guy from mexico city - super clean, he was hardly ever there and it was 450/month all in.. when the family showed up i got into a condo/rowhouse @ 1400/month + utils but there were 75 applicants.. i got it because i showed up with cash..

I know the vacancy rate in sylvan is 1%! I am tempted to buy an investment house there and live in the basement.

Yup lol, has it's ups an downs, my apartment is on the main drag so really loud, but also great scenery at the waterfront. Still prefer Vernon though... I have been home for 12 days and have to go back to sylvan today... Crane safe level A exam tomorrow...

Thanks for all the valuable information that you provide newbies like me who want to move out west and work the oil fields. Talked to Ken Sebastian yesterday who runs a company called EXTREEEME TRANSPORT CORPORATION out of Estevan. Besides having limos or taxis or busses that transport people anywhere in that area especially with a run to Regina, he was looking for shuttle bus drivers to do a run from the Atco Lodge camp to the Boundary dam which is about 5 miles away. This was not oil patch level income but I learned a little bit about the industry and conditions in Estevan. Every call should bring more valuable information. Turns out that Estevan, which is in the Bakken field, has huge problems for workers moving into the area where 1400$ a month is nothing for a dumpy place that hopefully 2 people can share. Should have asked about the vacancy rate in % but it should be obvious. It appears that Atco has been able to profit very well by filling a need in the area and the rooms don't look too bad at all. Ken says that Atco is building another lodge because demand is that high. My question is there other areas that ATCO or its competition are filling a need that needs to be filled. Is such a camp worth the rent and bang for the buck comparedto trying your luck in the town? Are they just as expensive as a hotel? It seems that they can solve accomodation problems that may stop someone from apply for a job in Hinton, Edson, Dawson Creek Grande Prairie, Fort mac just to name a few. Thanks guys

Can't say how it compares to hotel prices. However I can tell you in estevan there are 2 kinds. Brand new full price and cheap ones built when they had a WWII air base. NASTY you have to figure in camp you don't have to figure what's for supper or drive your own vehicle. Saves a bunch of fuel. Might even save money on insurance by claiming non work vehicle if its mostly parked
