Do the majority of OOs pay a trailer rental fee? per trailer, per day, per week, Max monthly rate?

I know many leased to carriers don't because they often do drop and hooks and don't pull the same trailer all the time . What type situation are you inquiring about ?

you can lease monthly with contract around $400-$700 a month. As far as renting daily or for short periods of time it gets much more expensive depending on the company and frequency. We use ryder and penski when we need them for short-term rentals, $40/day pay plus 5 cents/mile

Not sure what your asking for exactly, owner op running under his own authority the majority will buy vs rent, owner op leased to a carrier pulling a carriers trailer is paying trailer rental out of the cut the carrier is taking off the load.

I am inquiring about the later. An OO signed on with a carrier, is it typical for the OO to pay a rental fee for trailers?

State the carrier is based out of really doesn't matter, they will take a percentage of the load or pay you a mileage rate. Either way you are paying for trailer rental, insurance, etc.

Yes it's common and industry standard really for percentage contracts.

O.K. , while they may not charge a rental fee they pay a higher percentage if the O/O owns both tractor and trailer than they do if the O/O has the tractor only . They charge a percentage of the revenue for the trailer . It's more of a fee than actual rent .
