we still have not started school yet. We are trying to get approved for the loan. Have to have a co-signor and that has been a bit of a problem but we should hear more today. (Fingers are crossed) Maybe by the time we are done the program will be back! We can only dream! :biggrin_25518:

well we couldn't ever get a co-signor with good enough credit. I need some rich friends or ones that pay their bills. LOL J/K if we had done what we should have in the past we would not be in this boot.

Anyway, drum roll please.....we have now signed our life away to Werner! Yes, I know Werner. But Jeremiah's brother is a trainer there (actually he was trainer of the year for 2007!) and he is going to train one of us. Haven't decided which one of us is going to get him!

We are supposed to start school on Feb 4 in Omaha, NE. Hopefully, this time we will not have any problems! And they allow pets so Hamlet will be get to be a truckin dog!

I am starting to get nervous, yet very excited again! I know that there are pros/cons with all companies and we are going into this with a good attitude so I am confident that we will be fine.

Thanks to everyone for your support and prayers! :biggrin_25514:

Oh, and watch out....open road here I come!

Let me be the first to congratulate you both. Werner may not have the best rep in the world, but they have some good programs and a lot of trucks on the road. If they will pay for your schooling as well, then GO FOR IT! Learn and enjoy and after your contract is up if your happy stay there. If your not happy, you can go to any company you want to. I'm very sorry that Interstate didn't work out.

Thank you K&J. I really do appreciate all of the support and guidance you have given us. I am excited to get this show on the road! Patti is still trying to get us our sitting fee back but honestly she is kind of giving us the run around...but that is expected this is a company we are dealing with!

I am very sad that Interstate did not work out. We did everything that we could to try and get that to work out. Tonight after I had posted we found out that we did finally get approved at Roadmaster but only with $2000 down. Right now we just can't swing that. We will be getting income tax money back but really we can't wait anymore. Like I said before we are living with my in-laws and we have got to get the heck out of here!

I will keep you all updated. We are going to do our year at Werner and then go from there. I think if we go anywhere else it might be USXpress. I love the idea of automatics. I don't think we will ever go with Interstate now. They have just left a bad impression on me. I know, it was just bad timing but it was not handled well at all. You can't blame me and I know that you don't. I am glad things are working out for you all and maybe someday we will pass on the road. I hope to keep in touch.

    Hugs,
    Sassy

    Kitty,

I've considered all three companies--Interstate, Werner, & USXpress, and have heard the best news about Interstate. A lot of this was from you, but I've also talked to recruiters at all three companies. The main problem I see with Interstate has been it's relatively low mileage salary.

Werner is a "core" company with the Western Pacific Truck School. The main issue with them is the digital logbook. If you happen to speed on the Interstate, a Highway Patrol officer can learn about this by examining your logbook printout, so I understand. I agree that USXpress appears good by virtue of the equipment that they claim to given new drivers.

I agree that giving $2000- down to go through truck school is unnecessary for you. Did you consider Schneider?

Yes Schneider was my first choice, after Interstate fell through, that has company sponsored training. The problem is that they do not allow pets leaving our dog behind once we get a truck is not an option.

    Congrats Sassy!!!!!

No matter what at least you are getting this show on the road!!!! That is good news especially after the last couple of weeks you've had. I am so glad that you can have a plan now, and then when a year is up with Werner you can reevaluate what you want to do next when you will have loads of options. Keep the positive attitude!

Congrats to you and I cant wait to see ya out on the road sista!

Oh and you better keep us updated!

Thanks for all of the congrats!

Well we got in our pre-hire letters and talked to the school today. We are set to start on Feb 4 and should have the confirmation # for our bus tickets by next Tuesday. I can't believe this is really happening!

One thing though, today when I called to let our recruiter know that we got everything she asked for my social to check and make sure she had everything and now she can't find our applications in the system, so we have to resubmit them! I have to call her tomorrow afternoon and make sure she got everything again! HUH...it is always something! She said it is really weird, she had different socials for us and had us down as past drivers! These companies are all so screwed up!!! But I have always been the one that if something weird or something is going to get lost, I will be the one it happens too so I am not surprised! :biggrin_25521:

I am finally starting to feel better. I got over the strep throat but then developed bronchitis. I still have a cough but it isn't too bad. I had to start a second round of antibiotics. But I am actually feeling alive today and that is improvement in itself.

Ok, so now the fear is starting to set in. I am starting to freak out. I am very nervous and scared about driving a truck and how in the world will I ever back that thing?! I hate backing my car! :biggrin_25523: I am also worried about after school and having to seperated from Jeremiah for 2 months. That is really going to suck. I am worried about living with someone else in the truck for a whole 2 months!!! I have been told it will be my brother-in-law training me but I will believe that when I see it! I am also neverous about having my brother-in-law train me. I kind of think that I would be less nervous if it was someone that didn't know me, but at the same time I do not want to go out with a stranger. Plus my brother-in-law likes to talk non-stop and I am afraid he might drive me crazy. I love him to death but oh man you would just have to know him! LOL

I really worry about having to go to the bathroom. I don't want to gross anyone out, but when I get really nervous I get bad diahrea. I am praying that doesn't happen!! I am thinking Imodium will be my best friend!! Plus I have a bad digestive system anyway, I think that I suffer from IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) never been diagnosed with it but I fit the category to a tee!

Ok, so now you know that I am a worry wart! I worry about everything! Jeremiah says it will all be ok and that I am getting worked up over nothing. (I am taking a deep breath right now) Trying to calm myself. I am sure that I will look back on this and laugh. I can remember when Jeremiah and I first met and we would come hang out at his parents house. I would be so nervous and didn't feel like I fit in at all. But look at me now, heck I am living here! Everything just takes time to adjust. I know that if I would have pursued nursing that I would be just as nervous with nursing school and taking care of patients. Learning anything new and taking any new job is always a challenge. I just have to get out of my comfort zone a little.

The thing that worries me the most is being able to make it out there money wise. K&J have talked about low miles lately, I know it is the time of the year, but I do worry about getting out there and struggling. Having both of us on the truck together and both getting paid weekly I think we will make it, but that is only a hope.

Well I have ranted enough for now. Take care and I will be back before you know it!

Hope Willocouple is having a good time in New York!!!

    Hey Sassy,

Yes, we're having a GREAT time here. But, man....it's COLD. Only about 25 degrees today. This southern california girl is in shock! :yes2557: We've been all over....Times Square, Ground Zero, drove over to New Jersey, got a picture of the Riker's Island sign, ate real NY pizza (YUM) so good we went back twice in one day!

I even got a pix of a NYPD cop and talked him into holding my stuffed bunny (a girl I worked with gave him to me to take with us on our new adventures and take pictures of where we've been with the bunny).

Well, my friend....all I can say is I feel your panic. I woke up this morning almost hyperventilating. WHAT ARE WE DOING??? We both quit decent jobs (ok, we were misable in them, but they were ours), to jump head first into the unknown.

It really took me a long time to find my feet underneath me again. But I did. Oh yeah! We're going out to have fun, make some money, be together and see the country. Repeat after me...."it's going to be okay".

Keep your eyes on that prize at the end....Like I told my hubby this morning....a year or so from now, we'll look back and say "remember when we were so scared?"

Repeat after me...."it's going to be okay!":biggrin_25525:
