I am thinking of going for Swift but before i do i had i had some questions. See, currently i am an online student and was wondering if i could still pursue my studies while driving, and also do they have weekends off, or at least a Sunday off, i'm a religious person and can't afford missing church.

Big companies are 24/7 365. If you're going to work for a big company you're going to miss some church. That being said there are truckstop chapels all over the country that would be more than happy for you to attend a service.:biggrin_25519:

Your best bet is to get hired locally. There are local jobs but you will start out at the bottom and work your way up. I would finish school first before doing any trucking activity. These companies run 24/7 365 days a year. They do not care if your in school or need to attend church. They care about the job being done correctly. Not to sound harsh, but this the reality of trucking. You are there to pick up loads and deliver them from point A to B with stops in between. If your religion is that important, then get a Sirius and satellite radio. Sorry for being harsh but you need to know before you commit yourself.

Nowadays there is on-line shopping, on-line school, and on-line church. If only there were on-line driving jobs.

Denhinn already said his school was an online school. -- I'd imagine with Wi-Fi, you'd be able to keep going to school. It depends on how much study is actually involved. I was taking Law classes on line, and you bet there was a ton of reading, paper writing. I could not do that while driving with a trainer-- Basically you drive, eat, and sleep-- not much of a life. I've seen chapel at various truck stops. The times are generally posted. If you do your year OTR at somewhere like SWIFT, you can get a local job and maybe have the weekend off.

I've attended a service at a truck stop church very nice pastor he found me having lunch with a friend and I who were road tripping through oregon. I'm not the every week type and tend to not need constant socialization but could see how it might turn some off. Good luck!

You don't need church to worship. It's nice to worship with others, but God doesn't care if you're in church or if you are having a talk with him while doing a Pre-trip or if you are kneeling down in front of your bunk.
