You really think that squirrel you just locked up your brakes for, damaging you load and causing a multicar pile-up was worth it all?
Sudden lane changes and maneuvers cause loads to shift and can make a bad situation uncontrollable. An action I would lag DIRECTLY at the control of the driver.
It's easier and cheaper to replace a hood/bumper than changing something much bigger.
While you might not appreciate the jump in some of these posts, try getting a bigger grasp of what your actions are doing to your equipment and cargo. -

Had a case when a squirrel could not decide whether to go left or right. I imagined I could see its eyes fillled with sheer fear like in that commercial about tires, I guess it looked kind of funny that a driver of a big rig would steer and countersteer about 4 times within a second to save a stupid squirrel but I do like animals!!!. And no, I am not a vegetarian. I guess it is about respect to nature. The only time I ran over a small animal was when I was a student and it was twilight.
And yeah,I know its all BS. Like for example I eat ton of chicken a year and realize what kind of conditions they spend their short life in. and still noticed a tiny turtle crossing the highway the other day, almost thought it was a stone dodged it somehow, looked in the rearview mirror and knew that it will be a goner soon enough but C'est la vie -
Try telling my wife that. Not on real busy roads though. More then once had to turn around to check on critter in the road. Drives me nuts.

I'm kind to animals unless they're in front of my truck. In that case I hit them. I won't risk losing control of my truck by swerving or slamming the breaks for a wild animal or an unsupervised dog.
MNdriver and Ghost Ryder Thank this. -
