I have a handful of agents that I work with, so a lot of times I get loads before they get on the board... But yea my drivers get 3000-3500 miles as long as they don't have to do a restart... Also we avoid the NE as they're isn't much coming out of there anyways...

As far as the route is concerned, I don't really have my heart set on any particular route. I just figured that most guys want to go out west and then end up having trouble getting back. I guess I will have to spend some time studying the load board. All I care is that I find a way to make a living without driving in the NE. That is one thing I am not flexible on. I can work with everything else.
Anyway, thanks again to you and everyone else who has responded to my post. -
We have been told over and over that we are the only company in this industry who does what we advertise we will do. I do not appreciate other companies making us look bad. If you get drivers $2.50 to $3.00 per mile and 3000 to 3500 miles per wk, they will come in flocks by word of mouth because you will be the only company doing it. I hope your drivers do have to do a restart. Mine have to every single week unless they are a team and then 3500 miles is child's play. I am sorry everyone, but any person who tells you $3.00 per mile or 3500 miles per week is borderline on being full of it. If they tell you both of those things together then they really are full of it. And I am not saying that because we cannot do it. I am saying that because I have been in this business long enough and I have the right kind of contacts to know how good it can be. Now somebody who drives for landstar and has good contacts might be getting close to that, but that is simply because Landstar is as big as it gets. I advertise an average of 2700 miles per week. And for o/o I advertise $2 plus per mile. This is a realistic figure in this business for someone who is either good at loading or has good connections. I do have drivers who do over 3000 per week, but they are the exception. Those are the guys who make it seem like a piece of cake. Most people do not fit into that category. I believe that false advertising is what is wrong with our country. You cannot trust anyone so you end up trusting the one who lies the best and who spends the most on manipulative marketing. The honest ones like me just get by while the shady manipulators boom. I know most consider that the way of life, but I do not want to ever be that person. I want to sleep well at night. And I do not want the guilt of knowing I lied to a driver and his family lost their home and way of life.
LSAgentOZR Thanks this. -
Wow I feel like that was directed towards me... I'm not here to prove anything to anyone, but as a business man of over 15 years owning and building 4 corporations then selling them, I kind of know what I'm doing... This is only a piece of what I have going on, I just always liked driving so I started this... Everybody has a comfort zone and mine is different than maybe yours! Yea my drivers are happy and I always have been a employee focused company... I like Landstar and I seen how other companies have treated drivers so I know that drivers don't trust anyone, and we have every right, but what I always said is do your research on any company as its the best thing you can do for yourself... So all the complacent drivers out there I'm happy for you and keep trucking... Have a great night

I don't care. if I can average gross more than I am now and cut my fixed expenses im happy. I hate 1200 a week in fixed. its torture. running landstars expenses with a $50000 truck over 36 months would cut my fixed in half. I average $1.75 gross now and still manage to make money here. I cant wait till august.

The length of time it takes depends on many variables. When I signed on it took nearly two months. Just be patient with them and stay on top of your processor. They say in orientation that only 25% of applicants get offered the position. If you are patient, professional, and persistent it will help you make the 25% if your past is good.

Quick question, I called an agent about a load that they said was available. I gave them all my usual information and they said they will email me load confirmation. So two hours goes by and nothing. I call them but goto voicemail and I leave message about needed load information. Another couple of hours goes by and nothing via email and that load's FB hasn't been added to my truck.
Is it okay to assume load has been canceled or is not available? I left another voicemail that they could either call or email me that load wasn't available so I could look for something else but no answer. I was going to follow up in the morning but I just don't want to book another load then they send me load info and agent gets upset that I can no longer do it.
