How much is the fine for running in California without the proper emissions?

During the last Landstar WebEx concernig CARB the rep they had from CA ARB said its a fix it ticket if your caught in CA without a DPF. The fine depends on the company size and some other variables. So basically his answer was that he doesn't even know. He said a fix it ticket can range from $500 to $1,500 if your a repeat offender of the CARB rule.

I think most people like me who have a non-compliant engine are just going to either boycott CA or wait until after the new year and see what happens.

 

I heard it is a minimum of $ 1000.

 

I had also read somewhere, and I don't know how they would do this, but if they were able to somehow know that you weren't CARB compliant at the ports of entry that they would deny you entrance into California. But I'll be ###### if I can find where I saw that. It was ealier this year so maybe it's old, out of date news by now

 

This is true. I was denied entry at the port of san diego couple months ago. They actually check via carbs website. I was told that rig wasnt compliant. So I had to drive rig back to ontario yard, fly to San Francisco, pick up the new rig that is carb compliant and drive back down to san diego for the job. My boss says hes selling it out of state rather than invest to get it compliant. The rig only has 115k miles very low for an 06.

What?? The model year engine is a 2006. Look at the compliance schedule from the link I just posted

 

You are right I own a 2004 I can legally go into California until dec 31 2013.
