What should I look for to know when to run the other way?
I'm looking at trucks that are about ten year old, and I see quite a few that have fresh painted frames.... Should I be worried about what may be hidden under that fresh paint? Any signs to look for that might indicate trouble?
Here's a pic of a 2004... since its laid bare to see, what would think of a truck with a frame like this?

If the frame looks like that I can only imagine what the wiring maybe like. I bought a truck recently that I had driven its whole life up till about three years ago. When I got out of if the frame was clean as well as everything under the hood. I use to spray the chassis and engine compartment down once a week in the winter to keep road chemicals to a minimum. In three years I don't think anyone had washed the chassis. Grease and gunk everywhere. When you open the hood the engine is no longer a bright color. On all the ac lines are rusted I stead of galvanized on the end. It had a new radiator right before I bought it that I would assume was also from road chemicals. Really look a truck over good. That road de-icer is some nasty stuff and gets in every thing.

My truck is 2008 ,the frame looks almost as bad, have to sandblast and paint it; i'm running 4-5 moths/year in salt and de-icing chemicals;if you look for a 10 years old truck , try one that's been running south of I-40, they look way better ; a friend of mine replaced both frames and paid over 12,000$ .

on any truck that uses aluminum cross braces and mounts and a steel frame, like kenworth be real careful. you can buy a lot more work than you wanted.
