Sorry I haven't said anything I've been reading all post and thinking. I made my decision to go to UPS. I worked for FedEx few yrs back on the dock so I kinda know the freight game lol so to speak. Thanks to everyone who gave their insight.

On a completely unrelated note. I'm asking for a friend. Does anybody have an inside scoop on Team Biondi?

I would choose UPS Freight. Reason ; pay & benefits.
As far as being known by a number or name, I prefer being known by a number. Keep the buddy-buddy stuff for someone else; just pay me on time.

I don't know why everyone thinks a large employer will know you by a number. This isn't even remotely true. Your employee ID will be used to pull up records when the time calls for it, and that's it.

road drivers/linehaul drivers or whatever at most of the big boys are getting the shaft, from con-way to fedex to upsf..think long and hard man. 65cpm aint so great only running one night a week while purchase and rail take your work away. And with UPSF they are trying to move to 4 yrs to top out..better than con-way where it takes 63 months to make top scale wages.

I work for a small mom and pop operation, the owner's wife is the dispatcher and she hates to tell anyone "NO". They are both very accommadating with schedules, days off, etc. They even hire ex-convicts which has been working out very well. Granted, the pay and the bennies aren't there, but you couldn't ask for a more relaxed place to work at.

Having a relaxed working atmosphere is great, but if it doesn't put food on the table, what is the benefit?

I think this was a mistake going to UPS. I've got a family member and its a immediate family member in the hospital on their death bed an absolutely no flexibility with UPS. I think I'm going to recontact mom n pop
