Congrats and thanks for the support. With PSU and now you leaving the two guys that were integral in me coming to central (via your training thread posts) will soon be gone. I am fortunate to have met you and its even crazier to think about how I ended up in PSUs truck.

In terms of your tuiton ive had a few people that I went to TDA with tell me the school will settle out for far less than $3k so ask about that! Best of luck to ya bud with the new gig and again thanks for everything! Your posts about central have helped me more than you will ever know.

I was concerned when I cleaned out my truck that I would get some flack or glares as I left. My DM seemed genuinely disappointed to be losing me, informed me that I had up to 30 days to come back to central without having to even go through orientation again. After that I'd have to go through orientation to come back--

talked to the terminal manager and we called payroll, they said I had about $1788 left in my tuition, I think that wasn't factoring the one on today's paycheck cuz I calculated 1730. He let me know that the wAy it's done is they turn it over to a collection agency and then I'll work out with them how I make payments.

Got my inspection from the shop manager, said it was all good. Only problem with the truck was a cabinet latch that actually broke as I was cleaning it out-- go figure--

interesting note-- I checked my drivers page and they have my next weeks miles already being paid-- the curious things were two amounts-- -$220 for reserve account, and a $277 vac pay. I didn't think I'd have any vacation pay until if been there a year. I was curious about the -$220 for that reserve account deal. Paid $10 a week for 15 weeks, then this one makes $370-- I was wondering f they took $220 out to hold until they've confirmed the trucks condition and then reimburse it. I'm thinking about calling payroll tomorrow-- dunno if they would talk to me since I'm actually no longer an employee.

my $.02... It's more than avoiding disappointment for me. I have given up my life for the most part, but I haven't lost my family to the truck. Sorry, it's just not worth it for me. That being said, I also know where I want to be. I have a very clear vision of where I am headed and whether it takes me 5, 10, or 20 more years of really pushing to get there, I will not stop. I'm 2 months through an almost three month run (I did manage to sneak by the house once or twice while passing through). People think I'm crazy when I tell them I've been out 8 weeks and I still have 4 to go. But, I'm not. I just know that my girl wants a vacation and for us, this is what it will take. People get so caught up in what they can have right now but if you're not putting in the work to get more than you had yesterday, you better stock up on lottery tickets and get use to the same car, same house, and same life you have right now...

you turn it over to a collection agency. and it will get posted on your credit for the next 8 years. and the law reads FROM LAST DATE PAID.

google the fair credit reporting act and the fair debt collections practices act.

and good luck getting if off your credit. cuz disputes don't work they way they are supposed to work.

make sure you keep every payment you make on record also.

That's the attitude to have right there. I always stay out 3-4 months at a time, but I don't have a family to go home to. I see way too many people these days who aren't willing to sacrifice a little and work hard to the what they want. It's sad really.

It is definitely a different lifestyle than the 'normal' 9-5... If we could have sold everything (house etc) and just lived in the truck, that would taken a lot of the stress out of the equation, but add a different type in. Our daughter is now married with her own family, so home time is visiting, not parenting. However FaceTime and Facebook can only compensate for not being there only so much, and the reason we started 'trucking' was to save our house, so selling it is out of the question.

You do need to 'flip that switch' and realize that plans are just a general outline ... Things WILL change, and you have to flow with it... There are things that you will have NO control over... Weather, traffic, other people and THEIR attitudes... You do have control over your own decisions and attitudes... You can complain and whine, but that just makes yourself and others near you miserable. Now in a perfect world, I would still be a nurse, Klingon would still be in the manufacturing business ... We would be paying our bills and being able to set $$ aside for savings and retirement. We could plan a vacation and know we will get that time off AND be able to afford it... However when we plan, God laughs and changes things to suit himself and HIS plan... So here we are... The house is saved, we are paying our bills and slowly getting out of debt... We're still married (and with living in a rolling walk-in closet, that IS an accomplishment!!) and we are even still friends ;) We take things a day at a time a just roll with it!

Not saying this (OTR) will be what we do until we can't drive anymore, but who knows what the future will hold, one of these days we just might win the lottery!!

why should you stay out weeks at a time. when you can run the miles. run out your clock. and doing your 34 at home. it makes no sense what so ever to stay out weeks at a time.

regional companies run the miles. work the hours. and have you home on the weekend.

Most of those companies don't hire new cdls. More importantly there is no "run miles and get a 34 at home" when you live where I do. I'm in no freight lane. At a starter company duration is good for the wallet unless you get on a good dedicated that runs by your house (they don't run by mine).
