I am trying to decide between Schneider, Swift, or Con-Way but honestly it seems as if everyone has a beef with someone, so I just need to make sure i can make at least 500/wk and have benefits. I know I will have to pay my dues somewhere and I am ok with a month or two away from home, I just need to take care of my family since I lost my job in January and we have been living off savings and Unemployment. Somehow a guy with an MBA is overqualified for every job I apply for (thank you financial sector). Since I am a vet I am going to use some GI Bill money to get a CDL from Alliance School of Trucking in Chatsworth. I do not want to spend 12 weeks a facility in a hotel. I rather get one on one training and make my mistakes on my time and dime.
My goal is to make 40k to 60k a year after my first year but honestly I expect to make about 30K my first year. If you had to do it again which company would you pick, Schneider, Swift, or Con-Way? I am hoping to stay in the western states and not have to go past Colorado, but like I said I am willing to take my lumps to get a career. Plus Over the Top has always made me want to be a Trucker!
Schneider, Swift, or Con-Way? Which is the BEST for a new CDL Driver?

well honestly the 500 a wk as a rookie is not a for sure thing no matter where you go. as for not past colorado might not happen unless who ever you go with only does 11 western as per the company you want to go with its all up to personal opinion many will say schneider or conway but i dont think swift is as bad as many say.
Gunner710 Thanks this. -
What should I expect? Right now our bills are about 1,000 per month since I cut out every possible bill I could. We have no debt, but I want to better my life not make it equal to now. Can I expect to make 1500 per month?

Welcome to the Obama economy. Conway is the best of the three you mentioned. With Conway after a year you may be able to switch to LTL.

If you can get on schneider tanker, that would be my #1 choice (I know they don't hire in far norcal). Then conway #2, schnieder #3, & Swift #496

Go with Swift and get 3-6 months experience and then find another job making twice the money. But, you need the experience...

You can go with May they run 11 western but dont think you can take truck home.
