Do you have a class A cdl? How much OTR experience?

 

Maybe try expedite straight truck . Drivers must be:

• At least 21 years of age for cargo vans and straight trucks (no experience necessary)
• At least 22 years of age for tractor-trailers with a minimum of 6 months recent, verifiable tractor-trailer driving experience

Drivers must have:

• Valid CDL
• A verifiable clean driving record and good work history
• No more than a combination of three moving violations/accidents/incidents in the last three years
• A cell phone
• A positive attitude

Drivers must be able to:

• Speak and read English well enough to do his or her job and respond to official questions
• Block, brace and tie down cargo
• Determine whether the vehicle is safely loaded

Drivers must pass:

• DOT drug screen and physical exam, given at Panther Expedited Services orientation

You've got a hard road to go. I was there near seven years ago. You're to far from Al.. I've been exploring putting out my other truck and trailer on some type of rental/lease purchase or something but it would require a good deposit. The biggest thing holding you back is experience and age. at 24 most people aren't the most stable or reliable, I hope you don't take that wrong it's just the way it is. I would suggest you get coser to bigger cities you will find something easier there than where you have listed on your profile.

Rick have you ever read the Panther excellence program they try and get drivers to sign up for? They have about 99 ways from sunday to deduct money from your pay. I'm signed with them but wouldn't signe that part of the agreement.
They do have some ok rates mostly.

 

There are carriers who will train you to drive an 18 wheeler. You may check with Millis, Roehl, Swift, CRST, Covenant or Stevens. I believe that all of them have training programs. If you want to stick with hot shots, check with Hot Shot Express or Jones Motor Freight. Hot Shot is a division of Jones. There could be an owner operator who might be able to use a driver. Bennett Transportation also has a hot shot division.
