Hello my name is Nicolas I'm a photographer from New York. I work with magazines and newspapers doing documentary photography. I'm starting a new project on the "open road" and I will like to ride with a trucker from NY to California. I will be taking pictures on the way, and doing some research all for a possible book on Americans. If anyone is interested please let me know by private message. I have photographers id, i can get letters from magazine and other publications validating my requests.

Thank you and hope to get some replies back.

    Best

Your project sounds interesting. The major problem I see is you getting into a truck. Some companies have restrictions on passengers.

I would recommend calling some of the carriers headquarters and pitching your idea to them through the recruiting or public affairs office.

They could then pitch the idea to all the drivers within the company to see who is interested. You would get a lot further than just a small blurb on here.

Also remember that just because a company headquarters is in another state does not mean they don't have facilities in New York or surrounding states. Then there are also huge differences in types of truckers. Van, Refridgerated, Flat bed, Tanker, Heavy haul, Container, Car Haul. We all have different lives and schedules depending on what we haul.

Van can move slower. Refridgerated is generally on a tight schedule. Heavy Haul generally moves at night. Container deals with ship docks and rail yards. It's all different.
