GTI is offering huge sign on bonuses and can't get enough people to stay or sign up that should speak enough about that company...

im partial to flat bed and systems is a good company to start maybe not stay for ever but great for securment training and tarping

i don't know much about May someone else will chime in on that

(former GTI driver) GTI has good equipment and miles. A bad week for me in temp control (reefer) was 2700 miles. However (like any company) there were some bad things as well. 2-4 hrs to get a response from DM on qualcom (but don't call in..), home time is treated as a gift from the company and they often demanded I come back early (2-6 hrs). Need a 34 on the road? No way!! 11 months there I tried to do an on the road 34 4 times.. 3 times it was interrupted by night/weekend shift demanding I take a special (read late) load. Finally had enough when they made me miss my anniversary party (#24) by 2 days.

I may have just had a bad DM, but enough was enough.

Why would you not start out at a carrier based in the SW, when you live in the SW- The 3 company's you listed are all out of the NW.
This is why you get all the stranded story's on here.

GTI was at the top of my list when I got my CDL (last week) because they have an APU on the truck, but they said they don't hire from my school. So I am going with May Trucking, at least they have inverters. I think I'm too old at 50 to start out with flatbed.

Yes, May hires students. That's where I got my start right out of CDL school over four years ago. Also, you don't have to necessarily live in the NW to work for either GTI or May.
