Just last week, I deadhead 250 miles to pickup an excavator all legal and get there and it's 10' wide, and puts me at 14' high and weighs 45k not 38k.

got some extra and made it work. Difinitely didn't get enough extra.

Talked to the drivers again and they explained they are only rated in our system for 14' tall. could have likely gotten permission from LS but they didn't feel comfortable doing so as they don't have a lot of experience moving loads that tall. I don't guess I can fault them for that. Safety is our first priority after all. The customer is refusing to pay TONU, so if Landstar paid anyone the money and then the customer didn't pay it they would take it from me. I'm going to do something for that couple... just not sure what yet.

Man thats a tough one, but they showed up and got a load they couldnt take, they deserve something.

Does seem like they could have made an effort to work it out, different dunnage, dro the leveling valves, get permission and roll, so im not entirely sympethetic to there plight either.

Maybe hook them up on a great load or two?

Especially if the height affected routing...

they didh't have much experience. so they didn't feel comfortable.

apparently they are unwilling to get the experience also.

if i go through the hassle of something that isn't what it's supposed to be. i at least try to make it work. i can think of LOTS of loads that make me 14 feet high. and it's not machinery either.

the last load i had. i delivered with mufflers strapped to the trailer. and horns in the side boxes.

BUT. depending on where that load went also. cuz the height limit in some of the eastern states. is only van height. not 14 feet as seen in the west.

any trucker worth a hill of beans would have tried to make it work also. so it really works both ways.

it seems weird to me that they wouldn't even try to make it work, yeah it takes more time and most of the time you can get something for your time...

the expirence from it would pay huge in the future

I have to Disagree Snowwy...Nothing ''personal'',it's just Business...

This is one of the reasons why truckers get screwed alot.Truckers have to stop playing Mr Nice Guy all the time...I for one do not play Mr Nice Guy...It's just business and i demand Respect,Integrity, and Professionalism. If i even think something is ''shady'' i am calling everyone involved in it...

I as a driver am held to the fire for not crossing my T's and dotting my I's.I will hold all people involved to the same level of expectations..I think the team did the right thing and should get compesated for there efforts...

They DH 500 miles...I am sure they tried to make it work....Please do not pull the ole switch and blame this team...This is clearly the customers and OZR's fault....They need to held accountable and give this team some money for there efforts...
