More then 1500 doesn't make much sense anyway unless you have a huge alternator.
The following assumes you can actualy reach the peak ratign of your inveter (would have to have engine reved)
120 amp alt @ 12 volts = 1440 watts
150 amp alt @ 12 volts = 1800 watts
170 amp alt @ 12 volts = 2049 watts
190 amp alt @ 12 volts = 2280 watts
200 amp alt @ 12 volts = 2400 watts
Assuming your alt is putting out higher voltage:
200 amp alt @ 14.4 volts = 2880 watts.
Now the inverter has around a 20% loss, so the rated inverter value should be 20% under the power the alternator can output. Clearly you would never have enough power to run a 3000 watt load connected to a 3000 watt inverter. Now lets assume you have 2kwh (2000watt hours) of storage on your starter batts. (that's a lot unless you have deep cycle AGM) If your batts could drain fast enough (not likely) you would only get 40 min of power before your batts completely died. Now on starter batts its bad to go under 70% charged. Going bellow that will likely damage the battery's CCA. Really you have 12 min of power. That's assuming your batts are in peek condition. AGM batts would last longer because they can store more, but will have trouble throwing out all that amperage.
Long story short, anythign over 1500 on a normal truck with normal starter batts is a waste, because you will never have enough power on the truck to use the additional inverter capacity.

I have so far seen about a handful of new drivers in the new 680s i still have my 700 i got new when i got a truck. i also still do not have a need for an inverter.

I got a new 680 it has a 1800 watt inverter in it it runs every thing plus the kitchen sink
