The MC306 only deals with the way the tank is constructed and I'm sure placing placards on the sides and front would be a request that the customer would have done. There's so many different type of set ups out there the only way to build the tank with placards would be to use the standard way unless asked to build to spec by the buyer. The standard is listed in the CFR 49 parts 100 to 177 para 172.504 (a). -

It seems the answer is only one placard is required if all compartments have the same product but that really doesn't make sense . How would responders to an accident know which compartments had product in them ?
The OP really should have asked this question to the shipper before initialing bills noting proper placards were given . -
