TMC will allow you to stay east and bellow 5000 feet. That being said, I driven over the rockies and slept in the rockies. My truck seemed to run a little sluggish, but i was just fine. I may have been a little more fatigued, but certainly nothing really noticeable. Humans can take 10,000 feet pretty easily.

Pikes Peek is 14,114, not 19,000. Besides, I don't think the auto road is big enough for a truck.

Thank you for the correction been a while since I been out that way. We took that tram thing up to the top for vacation one year no the auto road isn't big enough for a truck but I do recall they race up pikes peak and some guy with a racing truck came around a hairpin corner at 97 awe the things you want to try when you're 18...and then realize are a horrible idea a few years later.
