Why are you still stuck on 80,000 miles? How many times do you need to be told those are the old numbers?

Sorry those are not old numbers. That is the numbers the recruiters are saying. Also driving teams isn't training. It's plain and simple driving teams.

If you have to drive 80K miles, it will take you OVER 16 weeks! 5000 miles per week is a good average. Not sure what recruiter you are talking about, but the standard is 40,000 miles, 10k is credited IF you get your CDL through the PSD program at Prime and 30k in the TnT phase where you run as a team with a trainer. (who should teach you how to be a Prime OTR driver) IF, and that is a big word, you have an accident or incident, you could be assigned to drive an additional number of miles up to 80k (the standard set by the insurance underwriters) or more if they keep you after a monumental screw up. Those are the standards. How do I know? Because I have trained several drivers who received their own trucks at 40k miles and are now successful Prime Time drivers.

I don't want to name any names of which recruiter we are talking about, but I'm seriously starting to think the recruiter doesn't know what he/she is talking about. I appreciate you as a trainer commenting on this. Is there a particular recruiter you could recommend we could talk to? My husband is coming in with his cdl class a already in hand just no otr experience.

Just remember that recruiters are relatively low-pay employees whose job is to get applicants in the door. They change almost as fast as new drivers do. You'll get better - and MUCH more diverse - information here from folks in the know.

    Freckles Thanks this.

I wish this topic would have been closed to everyone... It would have been even more beneficial, IMHO, if all this thread was, was a list of your amazingly detailed and descriptive description (wow... not trying to kiss ###, but I do love this thread... and those are lots of "d" words lol) of what goes on without the interjection of hey thanks and great posts and then the inevitable questions that have already been asked and answered a million times. Somehow this became the new question thread when there is already a question thread. I would think that if it was just a listing of all silenteagle's posts, then it would actually be read by people, instead of people asking questions at the end of the thread that were answered within the thread, but nobody reads said thread.

Sorry. Rant over. Sitting in the tractor bay getting my APU fixed/PMed and am a little bored.

I am getting ready to go up there on the 22nd or 23rd and can't wait. As for all the time required for training, I'm all for it because I am a complete newbie so I need the hand holding. I personally think that Prime's program is really good for the new person and that's why I chose them. Now I've got the butterflies and have spent about 2 hours studying today for the permit. I've been trying to study everyday about an hour or so. Hopefully I will pass it on the first try Monday. That will give me time to get packed and ready to head up to Springfield.

Wish I had known about Crust before.
I took seven tests at the DMV yesterday.
The whole ordeal was five hours!!! CA DMV
Really messed up. CA requires Class C test when
    Taking Class A. I took Class A
Class C. General Knowledge. Combination. Air Brakes Tanker. HazMat. Doubles Triples. Passed em all.
    You can do it too.
