I want to go to a truck driving school but before I do Im trying to find out what companies will hire me.
I have a good driving record but in July 2004 I was charged with a misdemeanor marijuana charge at my house and Im not sure what companies might hire me.
If anyone knows of any companies that might give me a chance I would appreciate it if you would let me know. Im interested in Flatbedding but would settle for van just to get into trucking.
What companies will hire me?

You can research most company's sites and it will give you their qualifications on most. Tells you what they will/won't accept.
-
Lets see.
You will have a very very hard time finding a major carrier. Best bet will be a small company.
Ones I know for a fact will not include the big pumpkin, Central, Swift, TMC, Werner, and probibly even england will not. They just have to be too careful.
Good luck, but you may not be able to find much till that charge is farther in the past. Even then most of the big ones would not risk it. -
I have the same problem. Trans Am and CRST will hire you for sure. Most companies want it to be 5 years old and with it being less than an ounce. I called every company in the book and this is what I came up with. Trans Am is self insured is why they can hire you with that charge. CRST will make you sing an agreement to take 3 drug test a year at your own cost. Mine will be 5 years old in April so I'm sitting back waiting until then. If you decide to go with Trans Am, ask to speak with Kim Bailey. Real nice recruiter. Sorry so long.

Yea. Ive been hearing about the 5 year thing also. I noticed on some apps that they just ask about felonies and not misdemeanors so I wonder if them companies will overlook misdemeanors?
Thanks for the heads up on Trans Am and CRST. -
Most of the websites just ask for felonies but when it comes to to the question of "ever been charged with misdemeanor" and you put that, they usually never call. Oh yea, Stevens Transport will hire you also. It makes me mad that they don't say that on the app., but oh well. Just do your time somewhere and then you can move to greener pastures. If you don't mind me asking, how old is your charge? I started out locally driving a 16 yd. dump, only reason I got the job with the charge is because of a friend who has been there from day one. Maybe try and look around for an owner operator. I was recently driving for one hauling wood chips. Anyways, good luck on finding a job.

The charge was in July 2004. After 3 1/2 years Im hoping someone will give me a chance after going to training at a school. If I go to training then I have to quit my job and just cant afford doing that unless Im sure I can get in somewhere. People have told me to try to get the charge expunged but with all the trouble you have to go to on gettn that done, a person is better off just to wait for the 5 year mark.
I appreciate your input. Thanks and good luck to you also. -
Also, If you dont mind me asking. How is it that you found out that CRST, Trans Am and Stevens will hire with a misdemeanor charge?
-
If i were you--i would check with Trans Am first above the other 2--Good luck to you!

Did you not get a lawyer? if it was your first charge you should of easley gotten a 1 year probation, after which they would have your record expunged...
