Hello Everybody,
I have a road test for National Carrier tomorrow. I have no formal training but owned a 10 car Freightliner that i ran from Fl to Ca. I am mostly self taught and from other truckers. I only had about 6 to 8 months experience before my truck had a major failure that put me out of business. Took about 6 months off and now getting back in the game. I have a question to ask. Thanks for any replies
1. I used a Pre-Trip Inspection checklist when i ran my car hauler. Can i use this check list for my pre-trip for national?
2. Is there really any order in checking components?

Pop your hood and check your oil then start your truck and wait for air to build up then cut engine with your lights on and your 4 way flashing and began your walk around. The inspector will ask you questions all the way around your truck like what is this and what does it do. Be sure to check you 5th wheel to see if it's locked, be sure to check brake linings on each wheel. The inspector will keep asking you questions about everything i.e. air hoses lights horn then you get in your truck and pump your brakes until there is no air watch you buzzer and what air pressure it is showing when it goes off then start engine and build up air to see how long it takes and for the most part you are ready for road test. Pre-trip is easy then road test, don't change gears turning or crossing RR tracks and keep it in the road and be able to back when they bring you back. I just took a new driver yesterday and they passed and this is what they did, hope this helps, be sure to check everything and call out what you are checking.
